Armstrong, <br />Carl Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, G. W. McNulty, Mayor Floyd D. <br />Granger and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present viere: City Manager Robert W. <br />Mead, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector L. IA. Duncan, Fire <br />Chief M. E. Ryan, Police Chief 0. L. Collins, City Collector N. L. Miramontes, <br />Street Superintendent H. L. Winter and Health Inspector Emil Stein. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, the minutes of the <br />previous meeting were approved as mailed. 1 <br />Application for dance permit was received from Court Madrone No. 159, F. of A. for <br />benefit dances to be held Saturdays, April 6th and 15th, at Foresters Hall. On + <br />motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Armstrong permit was <br />granted. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Application for dance permit was received from Howard Frederic for dances to be held <br />Wednesdays, April 5th and 12th. Councilman Hilton moved, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, that permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Application for dance permit was received from the Women of the Moose for dances to <br />be held at the Moose Hall, 026 Arguello Street, Fridays, April 7th and 14th. <br />Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson:,. that permit be granted. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Clerk Dodge read communication from City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes, advising f_ <br />that the State Division of Highways, District IV, have requested that taxes be <br />cancelled on Arb. Blk. 5272.Lot 11, and Arb. Blk. 320, Lots 1, la and lb, which <br />property was recently purchased.on Bayshore Highway. They requested that 1943-44 " <br />taxes be cancelled on parcels 1 and 2 and the second installment of taxes be <br />cancelled on parcel 32 the total amount of these taxes being $15,93. <br />City Clerk Dodge read letter from City Attorney McCarthy in which he recommended <br />cancellation of,these taxes after having received an opinion from 0. R. <br />Montgomery of Sacramento, attorney for the Division of Highways, which showed <br />beyond question statutory as well as court authority for the cancellation of such <br />taxes. <br />Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that these taxes be <br />be cancelled. Motion passAd unanimously. <br />
