Motion carried -by unanimous vote .of the Council. <br />Affidavit of publication of notice of public hearing on the local dim-out ordinance <br />was ordere& filed,,on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman <br />Hilton. Following this, on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded;by,Council= <br />man Hilton, Ordinance No.!. 90.. "A Dim-out Ordinance°, was adopted by unanimous G1 <br />vote of the council. <br />Recommendation of the Planning Commission to change the name of Katherine Street to <br />Katherine Avenue was approved on motion of Councilman.Britschgi, seconded by <br />Councilman Fletcher. <br />On r.ecommendation_of.the Board. of Review and City Manager, the Personnel Rules and <br />Regulations were amended to increase the maximum age for firemen and policemen <br />from 32 yearsto35 years; this amendment to be effective for a period of six <br />months following the signing of at armistice or the cessation of hostilities, <br />whichever may be first, on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Council- <br />man Hilton. <br />City Attorney was directed, on motion of Councilman Hilton, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher, to submit an -ordinance amending the ordinance creating a Personnel <br />System to extend the period of temporary employment from 90 days to 180 days, <br />it being understood also that this change is to be effective for a period of <br />six months following the signing of an.,.armistice or the cessation of hostili- <br />ties, whichever may be first. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher,.'seconded by Councilman Jenkins, the Personnel Ru- <br />les and Regulations -applicable to the position of Secretary were amended to <br />provide for taking of dictation at the rate of 100 words per minute instead of <br />120 words per minute. r <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Jenkins, the City Attorney <br />was directed to prepare an ordinance recinding the ordinance establishing em- <br />ployees salaries for the fiscal year 1942-194.3. Following this, on motion of <br />Councilman Jenkins, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the City Manager was auth- <br />orized, pending the repealing of salary ordinance, to establish minimum compen- <br />sation for the position of secretary at $120.00 per month. <br />J <br />_ <br />City Manager reported he had arranged with the W.P.A. for services in cleaning up <br />t <br />the Corporation Yard in exchange for scrap metal, and was authorized to proceed <br />,t1 <br />on this basis on -motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />,Application for dance permit by Foresters of America to be held November 7 and 14 <br />was approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded, by Councilman Hilton. <br />The bond of Robert W. Mead in the amount of 4415,000..00 as City Manager dated October <br />280 1942, with Maryland Casualty Company was approved and ordered filed with <br />the City Clerk on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Mr. Ole Oleson addressed the Council in connection with removal of chutes at the <br />V, <br />rodeo grounds and on'rnotion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman <br />' <br />v <br />
