Building Inspector Duncan reported that the trailer located on Lot 9, Block 144 Range <br />D. Mezesville, on which the city has the tax deed, was still there. He stated <br />the trailer has no wheels. It was agreed that the trailer should be removed. <br />John J. Damonte appeared in behalf of his,father, B. Damonte, owner of Lots 5, 6'; 7, <br />8, 9, Block 40 West Redwood, 1703 Roosevelt Avenue, from which it had been <br />recommended that a shed be removed. Building Inspector Duncan testified as C■! <br />�I <br />follows: <br />Q. What is the condition, do you recall? <br />A. I do. Just board and batten shed built on street line - .old, old building <br />before they•had setback lines. <br />Q. Is there anything about the structure that makes it a fire hazard? <br />, <br />A. House right next to it. - <br />Fire Chief Ryan testified as follows: , <br />Q. Do you .regard it as a fire hazard by reason of its existence? <br />A. Yes. <br />Health Inspector Stein testified as follows: <br />g <br />Q. Are there any health problems? <br />� <br />A. No;sir; with the exception of sat harbor. Storage of meal feed in there has <br />a tendency to attract rodents. Saw evidence in the vicinity. <br />`l <br />Mr. Damonte explained that the building originally extended to the corner but- <br />;. <br />that some.of it had been torn down. The building is being used to raise chicksI{( <br />which are a m cans of livelihood to his father. He admitted there were -rats in <br />�k <br />the vicinity but stated that,they had set traps to catch them. Councilman•'' <br />Britachgi asked if it were necessary to have that large a barn for chicks.- Mr. <br />z <br />Damonte stated that the building was used because it had been there and also that <br />it was used to store feed in the fall of the year. Mayor Hilton asked if Mr. <br />Damontels father was operating under a commercial chicken permit, to which -he <br />• <br />it • <br />replied that he was not. Councilman Fletcher stated that he did not see much <br />violation of the ordinance. The building had been built before there was a set- <br />back ordinance. Councilman Anderson believed the building needed,some whitewash, <br />- <br />r j <br />Mr. Damonte agreed to see that the building was painted. Did you inspect these premises? <br />A. Yes. Formerly a garage but hasn't been used for I don0t know how long. <br />Q. What is the location? <br />A. It is on the.•corner of Arguello and Standish. <br />Q. How big a place is.it? <br />A. Oh, I would say about .12 or 14 feet. <br />Q. It is uninhabited? <br />A. Uninhabited - yes.. (� <br />Q. It is in a dilapidated condition? <br />A. Yes. <br />Fire Chief Ryan testified as follows: <br />Q. Is it afire hazard? <br />A. Yes, <br />Health Inspector Stein reported that there was no health menace to speak of. <br />Mrs. Kopke stated that it had been the intent of the owner to tear the building <br />dorm. Councilman Armstrong moved that the matter be continued to the second <br />
