J. T. McCandless appeared for Margarete F. Carroll, owner of property located at 16U Valota Road, Lot 16, Valota Park, 2 room board and batten.shack, 3 room 'board and batten shack and a large barn. Mr. McCandless stated that the owner had requested him to tear down the shed. Building Inspector Duncan testified as follows: . Q. There is more than one building on this property? A. There are two little buildings that are used for.dwellings and a barn - board and batten house. Q. No studs, no foundation? A. That's right. Q. Out of level and plumb? A. That's true. Q. The privy is not in conformity with the ordinance? A. No air. _ Chief Ryan testified as follows: Q. Did you examine these premises? A. Yes - two small buildings other than the one occupied by this gentlemen. Q. It is a fire hazard? A. Yes - extreme fire hazard. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the matter.be continued to the second meeting in July. Motion passed unanimously. Mrs. Benjamin Fireman appeared before the council in regard to an old shed which has been used for living purposes and- is now vacant on Lot 22, Block 5, Vera Avenue Villa: Building Inspector Duncan testified as follows:. Q. You reported no foundation, board and batte, floor on ground, no studding, bad fly condition, do you recall the place? A., Yes.. I think the majority is for the health department.. The big kick on it was that Tammany was'living there and there were no toilet facilities at all. Health Inspector Stein reported as follows: .Q. Did you make an inspection of this property? A. Made an examination of old shed. Believe an Oakie family had been living there. Undoubtedly they created soiAe of the depredations - human excreta, garbage outside the door, board and batten, floor on ground, inadequate window space, ceiling height inadequate - minimum is 9 feet for living pur- poses. Of course, as it is now it. is.left open. People can go in there and create depredations. Mrs. Fireman stated she did not know of any Oakie family living in the building. She said Mr. Tammany rented the shed to park his wagon and had made a room to live . in. She stated no one was living in it now and that it was unfit for human habitation. Councilman Armstrong asked if it would be possible for the place to be cleaned. Health Inspector Stein replied that if the garbage and excerta were removed and the structure used for storage purposes, it would be all right. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that the matter be postponed for thirty days to allow time for the property to be cleaned and a re- port made at the second meeting in July., Under the question, Councilman Britschg!i asked if thirty days time would not be allowed if the resolution were adopted. Councilman McNulty replied that thirty days tJ#e would be allowed but the council would be forced to take action at that time. Councilman Ar$tstrong stated that Mrs. Fireman admitted the building was unfit for human habitation and -he was willing to give her an opportunity to clean the property. Motion passed unanimouCly. No one appeared in behalf of August Fabro, owner of Lot 3, Block 13, Range D. Mezesville, a former 2 car garage. Building Inspector Duncan reported that Mr.. Fabro is fixing the building and he believed it would be all right. Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the matter be continued to the second meeting in July.
