<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />NOVEMBER 16, 1942
<br />8:00 P. M.
<br />Upon roll call the following were present: H. F. Anderson•, C. A. Britschgi, E. A.
<br />Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, Louis Jenkins, Jr., G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D. Granger
<br />and City Clerk C. W. Eltringham. Also present were City Manager R. W. Mead,
<br />City Attorney P. A. McCarthy, City Collector N. L. Miramontes, Chief of Police
<br />C. L. -Collins, Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan and Acting
<br />City -Engineer R. J. Clarke.
<br />Minutes of the regular meeting of November 2, Y942, were approved on motion of Council-
<br />man Fletcher, seconded by Councilman' McNulty.
<br />Resignation of C. W. Eltringham, City Clerk -Treasurer -Auditor, was accepted effective
<br />November 23, 1942, on motion of Councilman McNulty.,- seconded by Councilman
<br />Anderson.
<br />Approval of the City Manager's appointment of Ralph S. Dodge, as City Clerk effective
<br />November 23, 1943, was giver on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by
<br />Councilman Jenkins.
<br />Councilman Britschgi nominated Ralph S. Dodge for the office of City Clerk and City
<br />Auditor. Nominations were closed and on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded
<br />by Councilman Jenkins, Mr. Dodge was unanimously appointed to fill the positions.
<br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the effective date
<br />of the appointment of Ralph S. Dodge as City Treasurer and Auditor was establish-
<br />ed on November 23, 1942, at 9:00 o'clock A. M.
<br />The oaths of office as City Clerk, Treasurer, and Auditor were administered to Mr.
<br />Dodge.
<br />Resolution accepting the resignation of C. W. Eltringham, City Clerk -Treasurer -
<br />Auditor of the City of Redwood City, effective at 9:00 o'clock A. M. on the 23rd
<br />day of November, 1942 and ordering that surety bonds issued in favor of the City
<br />on behalf of said C. W. Eltringham be cancelled as of the above date, and further
<br />ordering that new bonds be issued in the same principal sums by Ralph S. Dodge
<br />as City Clerk, Treasurer and Auditor was unanimously adopted on motion of
<br />Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Britschgi.
<br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the City Manager
<br />was directed to arrange with C. G. Uhlenberg, C.P.A., for an examination of the
<br />cash securities and other property belonging to the City and held by the City
<br />Clerk -Treasurer -Auditor as at 9:00 o'clock A.M., Monday, November 23, 1942•
<br />Councilman Jenkins reported in connection with the Dehoff agreement that the Committee
<br />would make a report with recommendations at the next meeting. -
<br />Approval was given of the City Manager's appointment of James Dodge, to the Parks
<br />and Recreation Commission for the expired term of James Fva, ending April 12,
<br />1944, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Jenkins.
<br />Communications from Harry Hoefler, President, Redwood City -San Carlos District Real
<br />Estate Board, and the Redwood City Chamber of Commercerelative to posting and
<br />removal of circus posters and other similar forms of advertising were read and
<br />ordered filed.
