11 <br />D <br />Communication from L. C. Smith relative to the installation of 1211 corrugated' -pipe in <br />Lieu of concrete pipe in the construction of a portion of Broadway and Perry <br />Street drainage facilities was read. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded <br />s <br />by Councilmdn Fletcher, request of L. C. Smith for a 20 day extension of ti7gq,,in <br />which to complete work in connection with the Broadway and Perry Street drainage <br />project was granted as of November 16, 1942. The City Clerk was directed to4in— <br />form Mr. Smith that this extension of time was granted by the Council with re— <br />luctance and that no further extensions would be granted. <br />Referred to the City Manager for report at the next meeting was a communication from <br />the San Mateo County Department of Public Health and Welfare, Social Service Di— <br />vision, relative to boarding homes for children and for the aged. <br />Request ofa Mr. Wong for lower water rates for commercial gardens was, on motion of <br />Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Hilton, referred to the City Manager <br />with instruction to establish an appropriate rate for water used by this type of <br />commercial consumer and to report thereon at the next meeting. <br />Permission was granted employees of the National Motor Bearing Co. to conduct a publi <br />dance on Sunday, December 6th, 1942, subject to the filing of application and <br />payment of the usual fee, on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by <br />man Fletcher. <br />Proposed modification of Ordinance No. 455 regulating the keeping of animals and <br />was discussed at length and finally Councilman Anderson offered for introduct <br />as a war emergency measure, an ordinance amending Section 1, Subdivision 4 of <br />Ordinance No. 455, to provide that no part of any house, coop or runway in which <br />chickens, geese, turkeys, ducks, pigeons, doves, squabs, and similar fowls or <br />rabbits are maintained shall be less than 25 feet from any street or 25 feet fror <br />any dwelling or place of business except that of the owners of such -towls or <br />animals. Motion seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried unanimously. <br />City Manager was directed, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />Anderson, to'`aommunicate with the purchaser of the Lown property and to advise <br />him that unless definite action was taken to remove the delapidated buildings, <br />action would be taken upon pending condemnation proceedings. <br />Report of C. G. Uhlenberg, C.P.A., on the result of, his examination of the accounts <br />of Mr. Martin, operator of the Redwood City Bus line, was read and on motion of <br />Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the City Manager was direct <br />ed to arrange with Mr. Uhlenborg for the installation of a simple, adequate, bo <br />keeping system for the bus.line and report at the next meeting a basis for,dete <br />mining net profit from the operation of the bus line. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised the Council that R. F. Martin proposed to submit for <br />approval a revised schedule for the bus line. In this connection, City Manager <br />was directed to provide means of informing the public about changes in bus sche <br />ules. <br />Mayor Granger appointed City Manager R. W. Mead and Councilman W. W. Hilton to act <br />with Councilman G. W. McNulty on the Real Estatt Committee. <br />m <br />
