Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that affidavit of publica- tion of ordinance calling election on proposed bend issue be filed; Motion passed unanimously. Councilman Granger asked the status of the proposed amendment to the building ordinance. City Attorney McCarthy advised that he had prepared a draft which he presented to the Council. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the matter be placed on the agenda for the next meeting. Councilman Granger asked.if an appraisal had been received on the former library site. City Manager Mead replied that one had been received but that inasmuch as the time for receiving1bids:.;had been extended the Council advised him at the last meeting not to make the appraisal public. Councilman GrcanGer asked if city trucks could be used in connection with the paper drive to be conducted Sunday, October 15th, and.said he believed the drivers .could volunteer their time on that day. It was the opinion of Councilman Flet- cher that the drivers should not be asked to volunteer,their services which opinion was,coneurred in by Councilman Britschgi. City Manager Mead advised the Council that, in every paper drive.conducted in the city, the city had ex- tended the use of the trucks and that the drivers had been compensated for their: time from the salvage fund. It was decided that the city trucks could be used in the. drive with the understn,nding that the drivers be conpensated. Councilman Grsr�ger ask@d if the city had on file public liability insurance polices held by the garbage company. City Clerk Dodge has of the opinion there was but stated he would have to check the matter. The matter was placed on the agenda for t11e next meeting. Councilman Britschgi stated t;.ere was a very dangerous condition on Hudson Street y between Jefferson Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue in that there were no sidewalks for the school children to walk on and it was necessary for them to walk in the a i street. He asked if some sort of a pathway.could be made. He said he would like -the matter placed on the agenda of the next meetings to see if there could be a solution to the problem. There was some discussion as to the status of the Hudson S�,reet extension as to whether or not it was a dedicated •stx eet and vrhethE:r *• the cast of the sidevralk could come out of the 1�%idson Street Extension fund. • City Llsnager Liead asked if the council would be agreeable to having an -assess- ment district formed to install the sidewalks if it is not possible to take the money from the Hudson St:•eet fund. Councilman G. --anger asked that a report he s made on the exact status of this street,. Street Superintendent Minter asked if the restriction could be lifted so that the Yacht; Harbor could be opened to the public earlier starting October 14th.
