f City Clerk Dodge reed communication from the California State Employeest Association requesting a representative of the employees of the City of Redwood City be pre- sent at a meeting to be held in San Francisco on Monday, October 23rd. City Manager Mead stated he would take the matter up with the city employees end have. i them designate their representatives. Communication was received from the Redwood City Traffic Study Committee recommending ' that pedestrian traffic lanes be i p painted across E1 Camino Real on the south side fof Hazel Avenue and on the south side of Willow Street because of the confused state of traffic across the highway at these streets. It was also recommended that additional street lights be placed at the intersection of Willow Street end El Camino Real. Councilman Granger moved that the recommendations be carried` out. City Manager Mead advised that the State Division of'Highways would have to' be contacted in regard to the painting of the traffic lanes, stating that he would be glad to contact the Division and report back at the next meeting of the Council. Councilman Grander asked if it would not be possible to install the additional streFt lighting without permission fromWthe State Division of Highway3. City Manager Mead replied that it would be if the materials could be obtained. 1 Councilman Armstrong moved that the City Manager be instructed to contact the State Division of -Highways and request that the recommendb.tion of the Traffic Study Commit lee be granted, seconded by Councilman Granger. Notioe of Decision 6n Protest was received from the State Board of Equalization noti- fying the City.Council that application of an on sale beer license was denied Thornton Walker, dba Two Friends. Communication ordered filed. 'Communication from'the-State Department of Motor Vehicles'addressed to Mayor W. W. Hilton was read by the City Clerk, in regard to returning entry .form for the City of Redwood City in connection with the Pedestrian Safety Contest -conducted by the American Automobile Association and'advising that if material for this contest had not been received, they would undertake to secure it for the city. 'Mayor Hilton advised that he had not received the material as yet and City Clerk Dodge was asked to so advise the Department of Motor Vehicles. ,ommunication was received from the San: Mateo County. A. F. of L. Political Education Committee advising; they h -d had no official word of the council's action in re- gard to the resolution vihich they had sent requesting that it be adopted in con- demnation of the °Riiaht of Employment" proposition on the November ballot. Council- man Armstrong, ;coved that inasmuch as they asked for an answer he believed an ex- tract from the minutes of the meeting at which this matter was acted upon should be sent to them, seconded by Councilman Ifeldulty.
