He stated this would be <br />a substantial increase over the present license based on gross receipts. As <br />chairman of the com-aittee, he moved that the miter be placed on the agenen,and, <br />the City Attorney be ;requested to prepare the necessary amendment to the license <br />ordinance to increase this tax to $$1550 to $$500 annually, payable quarterly, effro <br />tive January 1, 1945, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, <br />Councilman Granger asked if there were any other changes which should be made in <br />this ordinance at this time.. It t,•as decided to go ahead with this amendment at <br />this time and the motion passed unanimously. <br />I.Ir. A. B. Cheatham again appeared before the Council enc. stated that at the request ' <br />of the majority of the committee, he was asking; that the request of the "Wling,s <br />and Anchor Club" be dropped. Councilman Armstrong moved that the City Attorneys <br />instructions and the City Clerk's instructions be revoked -n d the matter be <br />dropped. Councilutan Granger believed it would be rell to have the City Attorney <br />look into the matter so that if a similar question arose the answer would be <br />available'. It was the general consensus, however, that the same rules would not <br />apply to any other organisation. City Attorney MacCarthy said he would give the <br />matter some thought. Councilman Gr�;nger seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCartlhy advised the Council that rt a recent meeting of the Council, <br />Mie. Greenbach had been advised to chsiCe his plans for adding a room to his <br />home on Conley Street and that he was to submit his plans to the building in- <br />spector and obtain a permit. Building Inspector Duncan advised City Attorney - <br />McCarthy that Mr. Greenbach had not complied ::ith these instructions. Council- <br />man Armstrong asked if he were contin+.zing with the construction to which Buildins <br />Inspector Duncan replied that he was not.
