He was of the opinion there was no dancing in the bars in San Francisco but only in nightclubs and hotels.Council- man Granger asked the City Attorney to also check,into the matter of maintaining certain candlelight power in the bars. City Attorney McCarthy stated that he had checked into this matter with the State Board of Equalization and -the Pacifif I t a Electric m and had been informed that while ma a to is had beer Gas and Elect Company , many t � made to correct the lighting in bars, none had been successful or appropriate inasmuch as it did not depend so much on the candlelight power as on the way the lights were placed on the walls, etc. Motion passed unanimously. I j Mayor Hilton reported,on his meeting with Mr.-Uhlenberg in regard to the audit agree- _ , menta He reported that on the basis of $1500 a year, or'$125 per month, Mr. Uhlenberg had estimated that the reports for the auditor for the past four month would total $500 and that he was willing to cut that figure in half- and accept X250 for the past four months audit which whould mean that for the current fis— cal year his fee would amount to $1250- Councilman Armstrong asked if it had been decided whether the agreement would include incidental services or not, to which Mayor Hilton replied that any incidental services would be included but per.. - • 1�7as any extraordinary services would b extra. City Attorney McCarthy stated that.in the appropriation ordinance which he had drawn up for presentation at this meeting he had included that the city audi- tor would submit a monthly report of departmental budgets and asked if that was included in the agreement. Mayor Hilton replied that it was. City Attorney McCarthy stated he had presented copies of the appropriation ordinances to,the members of the council and said it was rather technical.and suggested it be held over until the next meeting to allow time;for study and suggestions. Councilman Granger questioned the use of the term "city auditor" in connection with monthly reports to be furnished by Mr. Uhlenberg. City Attorney McCarthy was of the opinion that a term other than "city auditor" should be used. Councilman Arm- strong was of the opinion that Section -5 of the ordinance was superfluous inas- much as the arrangement with Mr. Uhlenberg was.ori a year to year basis with the present Council and he believed the requirements of the Charter were met if Mr. - Uhlenberg prepares the monthly -audits and they are accepted by the Council. Cit' Attorney McCarty agreed with this suggestion. Mayor Hilton suggested the ordi- nance be carried on the agenda. Councilman Armstrong asked if the matter of Mr. Uhlenberg required further • action. It was the opinion of Mayor Hilton that a motion.had already been passe accepting the PgSreement. City Clerk Dodge read excerpts from the minutes of November 6th and 20th in regard to this matter and Councilman Armstrong stated ` that in order that there be no misunderstanding he would mo.ve;.that following the agreement of -November 6th and further discussion with Mr. Uhlenberg in regard to compensation for the current fiscal year that the amount,for the first.3-Ear of z the agreement be in the sum not to exceed $1250, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, i Motion passed unanimously. ,
