P <br />Ii <br />Matter of franchise for Redwood City Bus Lines discussed. City Attorney - <br />McCarthy advised that the ordinance originally prepared by former City <br />Attorney Mansfield had never been published. It will be necessary, there- <br />fore,, to hold up the matter until proper -notice invitng bids be pub- <br />lished for a period of ten days. City Attorney McCarthy recommended a <br />resolution to that effect which was adapted on motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Affidavit of publication of Ordinance #485, Amendment to Ordinance r461, <br />fixing salary of City Clerk,Treasurer and Auditor, was ordered filed <br />on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Adoption of Ordinance #485 was ordered on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher.. <br />Affidavit of publication of Ordinance 486, Amendment to Ordinance 7#458 <br />regulating parking on certain streets, was ordered filed on motion of <br />Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Hilton. Adoption of Ordi- <br />nance rJ+86 ordered on motion of Councilman Hilton, seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi. <br />Matter of proposed circus poster ordinance held over to next regular meeting <br />in order that Councilmen be given time to study the question. <br />Application for restaurant license from Nipa Hut, 2550 F1 Camino Real, allowed <br />subject to approval of Health Department. <br />Matter of appointment of a new member to the City Planning Commission next <br />order of business. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Council- <br />man Hilton, Mr. Ronald Campbell was appointed to fill the vacancy caused <br />by resignation of D. R. Stafford. Clerk instructed to write Mr. Campbell <br />notifying him of his appointment. <br />Councilman McNulty commented on complaints received from Citizens unable to <br />hear distinctly the proceedings in the Council Chamber. Fire Chief Ryan <br />advised impossible to secure materials for improving amplifying equipment <br />at the present time. <br />Councilman Britschgi requested a statement of expenditures for Civilian De- <br />fense to be prepared and presented at next meeting for study. <br />Councilman Fletcher requested information on the position in Civilian Defense <br />office held by Mrs. Florence Donnelly. City Manager Mead advised the <br />duties were largely clerical, and would increase due to the removal of <br />Federal help. <br />Councilman Jenkins brought up the question of parking in vicinity of Southern <br />Pacific Depot, stating that in his opinion City Planning Commission should <br />give the matter considerable thought. Councilman Fletcher stated his <br />opinion that Southern Pacific Co. should provide necessary parking space <br />for Commuters. Councilman Jenkins moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />that the matter be referred to City Manager Mead who stated he would . <br />again contact Mr. Jordan of the Southern Pacific Co., in an effort to <br />,177 <br />4 <br />
