�J) <br />m <br />U <br />raised question regarding the real estate office on the same site stating that <br />permit was originally granted for one year which time has elapsed. Clerk was <br />directed to check the minutes and report at the next meeting. <br />Reference Weiner building now located in Lenolt Tract on Arguello near D Street, <br />permission was granted on February 2, 1942, to expire one year later. On,motion <br />of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Hilton,'Xr. Weiner was to be in - <br />'I structed to move this building immediately. <br />Attorney -Edmund Scott ,phoned City Manager Mead stating that sale of Top.Hat bar by <br />Ralph Brooks had progressed to the point where money was in escrow awaiting only <br />final reports to the Board of Equalization. On motion of Councilman Anderson, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, matter placed on the agenda for the next meeting <br />"•4,for''final report. <br />City Manager Mead reported negotiations were being carried on regarding the lot for <br />parking near the Greyhound Bus Depot. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, matter placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />In answer to request at the meeting of May 17th, City Manager Mead reported on Hudson <br />Street Extension Fund, amounting to $1,952.56 recommending that while, legally, <br />this money could be transferred into the General Fund, he believed there was a <br />Moral obligation that this money be used for the improvement to the property <br />I against which assessment was raised. Hudson Street is a street of major importance <br />and eventually will be imp ;roved by monies derived from the State Gas Tax Fund <br />"". and from direct assessments against this property, therefore, the City Manager <br />recommended that the $1,952.56 plus delinquent assessments which would be <br />KYNF eventually collected be retained'to-reduce the amount of assessments to be levied <br />against -this property when additional improvements are made. Oh motion of <br />x <br />W Councilman Britschgi; seconded by Councilman McNulty, City Manager's recommenda- <br />tion was accepted. <br />Ori motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, salary ordinance <br />'for fiscal year 1943-44 was introduced. War bonus ordinance was also introduced <br />on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />City Attorney McCarthy stated that the Traffic Study Committee was considering a plan <br />to regulate flow of traffic at peak hours around the railroad station. Police <br />Chief Collins,question.ed the right of policemen to enforce traffic rules inasmuch <br />as property involved was private property. <br />Mr. McCarthy reported that the Land Department of Southern Pacific Company <br />o had been contacted and from. all likelihood, Southern Pacific would lease the <br />property in question to the City for one dollar per year, stating 'that he will <br />very likely have definite information by the next meeting. <br />Councilman Hilton _stated that trains stopping at the Southern Pacific Depot <br />were again blocking Broadway crossing and suggested that the Railroad install <br />r" posts indicating to the engineers where trains should be stopped to keep crossing.: <br />open. This matter will be checked further before any action is taken. <br />Mr.,2Ferris M Iles, President of the Chamber of Commeree,,.appeared before the Council <br />requesting that consideration be given to the Traffic, Study Committee which now <br />01 <br />-0 <br />0 <br />E <br />
