Councilm,.n Gre.nger moved, sec- <br />onded oy Oouncilm-n Fletcher, that report on availability of materials <br />and cost, be •.nnde at next meeting of Council. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Grimmers, representing mothers of children attending John Gill School, <br />requested that stop signs be placed on Del Ora and Myrtle Streets near <br />Jefferson Avenue. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty that matter be referred to Traffic Study Committee, with request <br />to report at next meeting. Motion unanimously carried. <br />Request was made to place foot bridge or walk over storm drains for pro- <br />tection of children going to and from school. There being no objection, <br />this was referred to Traffic Study Committee. ' <br />Request was made to have short out over private property on Harrison <br />Street near•John Gill School filled in, for benefit of children using <br />that way to go to and from school. This being on private property, no <br />action was taken. <br />Dr. Jacob Weins appeared in support of his previous application for correction <br />of conditions where bees are maintained on property adjoining hia, and <br />constitute a hazard to his family. Mr. Kerstan, owner of the bees, stated <br />that had he known Dr. 71eins intended to enter complaint, matter might have <br />been settled between them, and agreed to do anything practicable to remedy <br />the situation. Mr. Craig, presented on another matter, volunteered the <br />information that if bees were placed on an elevated place such as a garage <br />roof, the danger from their sting would be minimized. In response to <br />Mayor Hilton's inquiry, Mr. Hodge, stated that he could not say whether <br />the fact that bees being in close proximit-T to individuals allergic to <br />their sting, could be considered a health hazard,• but volunteered to contact <br />the Agricultural Dena.rtment for suggestions as to combatting this situation. <br />City Attorney stated thet Dr. Weins had celled on nim, end he advised him <br />that there is no city 1 y 9Painst the keeping of bees. However, it is <br />within the province of the Council to prohibit the keeping of bees, if it <br />deems it proper. Inasmuch cs•the lots in that neighborhood are acro parcels, <br />it ,could not aeem reasonable to prohibit the keeping of bees there, and if <br />some avr?icoble ^rrangement could be made such ^s was suggested, by elevating <br />the bees and placing; them n.t some distance from De.
