Motion <br />passed, Councilman Granger voting in the negative. <br />Report of employees living outside the city limits was carried on agenda for <br />next meeting. <br />Report on sidewalk and street repairs was made by Street Superintendent Winter <br />who stated thet he had succeeded in securing services of one contractor <br />who could devote part time to the work, and hoped to secure some action <br />within the next week. <br />Councilmen Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that considerationnum <br />of civilian defense ordin•nces be carried on agenda.. <br />Communication regarding bonding of city employees was read by City Clerk Dodge. <br />There being no objection, City Attorney McCarthy was instructed to look <br />into the recommendations made and report back to Council. In response to <br />inquiry from Councilman Granger, regarding protection of individuals <br />using private automooiles on city business, City Attorney replied that <br />they were covered. <br />Mr. Royal Hodge, stated he would have report on sanitary facilities at Southern <br />Pacific Fla men's houses, at next meeting. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong that the proper <br />authorities be requested to investigate whether sewer iq broken, or waste <br />materials are being em-atied into Redwood Creek, as odor Pt low tide is <br />very bad. Motion carried unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCarthy stated that on sidewalk job 1945-1, a resolution was <br />adopted fixing the first day of Octooer for a hearing of complaints or <br />objections to assessment. Because of Mr. Clerke's death and Mr.Ra.ndlett's <br />increased work, the latter reported that it will not be ready until <br />November 5th. Attorney HoCartay sugg� seed that November 5th be set a,s <br />date instead of as in resolution heretofore adopted. Councilman Anderson <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, and un^nimously passed, that <br />November 5th be set as the date and the Council Chambers the plpce for <br />hearing of assessment on Project 1945-1. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the City <br />Council directed the City Clerk to notify the Southern Pacific Company to <br />change the elevation of its railroad track on Chestnut Street between <br />Broadway <nd the Northerly line of the new street known as Liguori Street r <br />to conform to a pavement which will be constructed in Liguori Street ,.Ind <br />in the intersection of Liguori and Chestnut Streets; also to arrange for <br />the paving of the portion of Chestnut Street within that block between <br />the rails and for two feet on each side thereof, all in accordance with <br />the requirements of the Acting City Engineer of this City. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilm-n Anderson, resolution <br />authorizin�-r the issuance of deeds from City of Redwood City to purchasers <br />of property sold ct delinquent tax sale by County Tax Collector, was <br />adonted unanimously on roll call. <br />
