<br />Councilman Anderson, that ordinanoe be adopted on roll call. Description
<br />of Alspaugh property by metes and bounds as it appears in copy of ordinance
<br />was read by City Attorney McCarthy.
<br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher and unanimously
<br />passed that City Attorney be instructed to amend contract heretofore entered
<br />is a member of a Redwood City Commission, asking wnat procedure should be
<br />followed regarding payment of bill. City Attorney McCarthy requested time
<br />to c rnisider and report on the matter.
<br />Claims No. 549? to 5985 in amount of $5,931.09, on motion of Councilm^n McNulty,
<br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher, were ordered paid.
<br />Councilmnn Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that affidavit of
<br />nublica.tion of ordinance regarding block on Middlefield Road between Willow
<br />and Laurel Streets be filed.
<br />Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that ordinance
<br />be adopted. Unanimously carried on roll call.
<br />City Building Inspector Dunco..n requested permission to engage an assistant in
<br />the Building Department. Councilman Fletcher moved that request be granted
<br />to tide over the emergency. Councilmnn McNulty su:egpsted that no action
<br />be taken until a ne;•<< City Manager is engaged. Councilman Granger inquired
<br />wnot snlary was to be paid. Mr. Duncan replied that relief man had been
<br />w paid at rate of $291.50 per month, for period he had been employed. After
<br />some discussion, Councilman Fletcher withdrew his motion.
<br />Councilman Fletcher moved that Council adjourn in respect to memory of former
<br />Acting City Engineer Richard J. Clerke, and City Attorney McCarthy was
<br />instructed to draw up proper resolution for inclusion in the minutes.
<br />WHEREAS RICHARD J. CLARKE was called to his eternal reward on the
<br />twenty-seventh day of September in the year nineteen hundred forty-five,
<br />and thereby the officers and employees of this City sustained the loss of
<br />an able and conscientious enprineer, n true friend and counselor,, and the
<br />neonie of this City have lost ^ faithful servant who hap for many years
<br />rendered a distinctive service in a hiaftly technical activity in the
<br />community;
<br />RESOLVED twat this City Council here record the shock sustained by
<br />the YiPQbPrA thereof in the sudden demise of RICH^.HD J. CLARKE and the
<br />great loss sustrined in his untimely passing; that the Council recogni?e
<br />the grent v^lue of the work done by him for meny years in this Community,
<br />and extend to his widow, SARA CLARKE, the sympathy of each member of the
<br />City Council in her bereavement and adjourn this meeting out of respect
<br />to the memory of RICHARD J. CLARKE;
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be spread
<br />upon the minutes of this meeting and that a copy hereof, certified by
<br />the City Clerk, be sent to Mrs. Clarke.
