On motion of <br />Councilm^n Anderson, and un^nimously p^sped, permit was granted. <br />Application was received from Bourquin motor Company to conduct used car lot <br />at 831 lr;inslow Street, accompanied by check for $10.00. City Attorney <br />McCarthy informed the Council that Mr. Bourquin had discussed the matter <br />with him today, advising that he had been appointed Hudson Sales Agent, <br />and wishes to make a.pplicntion as dealer in'Hudson cars, when he can secure <br />the cars. In the meantime, he wishes to conduct sale of used cars not.on <br />a lot but -in the Ross Garage. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by <br />Councilmen McNulty that check be returned to maker, and that he be asked <br />to file proper -application for used car agency. On the question, Council- <br />man Granger asked the City Attorney if when a man is establishing a busi- <br />ness within a business as in this case, saving the $200 license fee, would <br />he be permitted to conduct a second car lot in addition to the other <br />business. City Attorney McCarthy replied that the ordinance specified that <br />if a man has an agency for new cars,,he is entetled to conduct the sale of <br />used cars on an adjoining lot without payment of an additional fee. There <br />being no objection, on Councilman Grangers's request, matter was carried <br />on agenda, until mext meeting, with request that City Attorney make report <br />at that time. <br />Application was received from Oscar Hardie and P. C. Hardie, 2065 Broadway, to <br />conduct -a cafe and restaurant at this address. On motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Mc Nulty, application was approved subject <br />to Health Department inspection. <br />Application was received from Mr. G. Magnani to conduct a refreshment stand at <br />-Rogers Street and E1 Camino Real. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and unanimously carried, permit was <br />granted, subject to Health Department inspections. <br />Application for restaurant license from James S. Graham to operate a short order <br />restaurant at the Redwood Diner. On motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded <br />by Councilm^.n Britschgi, and unanimously carried, permit was denied, and <br />City Clerk instructed to notify Mr. Graham to appear before the Council at <br />the next meeting to show cause why permit snould-be granted. <br />Communication was received from Mr. J. J. Jordan of the Southern Pacific Company, <br />stating that additional protection would be installed by November 5th. <br />There being no objection,• communication was ordered filed. <br />Application from Hugh McCler.ry, Park Superintendent, requesting permission to <br />remove eucalyptus tree at Myrtl-e and Jefferson Avenue. Councilman Fletcher <br />moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that Mr., McCleary be given authority <br />to remove the tree. On the question, Councilman Granger inquired if there <br />wexe funds in the budget to cover the cost of removal. Mr. McOleary said <br />there was no money in the Park De-oa.rtment Budget.
