Smith rt 914 Bret -;sten tvPnue, 129 <br />Redwood City, California; and <br />y*HERFA$ in rnd by said notice to abate nuisnnce said Building <br />Inspector of the City of Redwood City did fix Monday, November 5, <br />1945, et the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. of said day, ru the Council <br />Chambers in the City H^11 on Middlefield Ro<pd in said City of Redwood <br />City, cs the time and place „hen the owner of the buildinM situated <br />uron skid re^1 pronprty could ^rpear ^_nd be heard and show cruse why <br />said buildina- or structure should not be condemned as a public nuis- <br />once and said nuie-,nce.be nb,�ted by reconstructing or properly re- <br />pairing said building or structure, or by razing or removing the same, <br />or by removing the dry grass, weeds, etc., as a fire menace, and <br />aHEREAS said Council did proceed with said herring and after con- <br />sidering all objections mode and received, does determine that due and <br />legol notice of said hearing was given as rewired by the Ordinances <br />of the City of Redwood City as r.ppears from the offidnvit of L. 11. <br />Duncan on file in the office of the City Clerk; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood <br />City and said Council does hereby decl^re the dry grass, weeds, etc. <br />to ce a fire menace and does hereby direct the owner of said property <br />to abate said nuisance within thirty (30) days from the passage and <br />adoption of this resolution, by destroying said dry grass, weeds, etc. <br />and if said nuisance is not so ebated by scid ovmerg -the City Attorney <br />of said City of Redwood City is hereby directed to file- and prosecute <br />a suit or actin in the Superior Court of the County of San Mateo, <br />State of California, in the name of said City of Redwood City to obtain <br />an injuction against the maintenance of said nuisance and to recover <br />damages for such maintenance of such nuisance, costs and other relief, <br />as well as to institute and prosecute such criminal proceedings as he <br />may be advised for any misdemeanor now being committed by anyone upon <br />the premises hereinabove described. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood O tty <br />at a regular meeting thexeof held on the 5th da.v of November, 1945 <br />by the following vote: <br />AYES and in favor of the passage and .adoption of the foregoing <br />resolution: <br />Councilmen: ARriSTRONG, BRITSCHGI, FLETCHER) GRANGER McNULTY, <br />and Mayor HILTON. <br />NOES nad against the passage and adoption of the foregoing <br />resolution: <br />Councilmen: NONE <br />Absent: Councilmen: ANDERSON <br />W. TON <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />Mr. Benson, 1445 Fudson Stxeet, with a group of his neighbors appeared to pro- <br />test ^m;inst condition in which street was left following installation <br />of side w.nl'cs in that section on Hudson Street, Their comnlaint was that <br />due to removal of dr^inG that had been put in by the property owners at <br />their own Pxnense, and no renlacement made by the city, to provide for <br />drr.inrge, and the unfinished condition of the street between the paved <br />strip down the center, wnd the sidewalks which in most cases are higher <br />than the street level, it was impossible for them to drive from the street <br />Into their garages during the last heavy rain because of the heavy mud, <br />obliging them to leave their cars out in the middle of the street, creating <br />not only and inconvenience to them Pelves, but a fire hazard in the event <br />of fire out there, due to the blocked street because of cars parked on it. <br />■ <br />
