130
i
Dir. Rwndlptt stated th^t the profile of Hudson Street is very flat end rs
there is no drainage, the late rain standing in the street between the M
sidewalks and the paved section undoubtedly cuased a bad situation. Wv4
Councilman Britschgi expressed the opinion that they had a justi-
fiable complaintand'the street should be put in good condition at the
city's expense so that they could come in and out of their garages.
City Manager Blom stated that he was familiar with the situation
and recommended, that it be temporarily corrected by filling in with
red rock and ditching. He stated there are about 30 driveways and Mr.
Winter had estimated about 3 cubic yards of red rock would be required
for each. This would cost $2'?5.on deliveredto the job. The spreading
and rolling of the rock and necessary ditching would make the total cost
about $600.nO or 570C.;nO •for approximately three blockg.
Councilman Granger called attention to this condition being one of
many examples of poor
engineering
for
which
the
city had
spent thousands
the
of dollars, expecting
good work to
be
done
and
expressed
the hope that
the new City Manager would see to it that it did not ha,pen again.
Mayor Hilton stated thpt since rain was to be anticipated, provision
should have been made for it. Mr. Randlett replied that the Engineering
Department did expect that and recommended that the street be finished.
Councilman McNulty placed the responsibility on the Council.
Mayor Hilton inquired if the residents on Hudson Street would be
agreeable to installation of curbs and Frutters and cornplete paving o f
the street next spring. Mr. Jack Kramer specking for the group said he
was sure they would, but meantime, would like to have some red rock put in,
and a ditch dug to carry off the water.
Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and
unanimously carried, that the City Menrger be instructed to study the
situation ancl, provide such temporory relief as would be possible.
ADnlication mne
received
from
Pdrs. Ranacciotti to construct a green house on
Kentfield
Avenue for
the
purpose of conducting a wholesale flower business.
y.
As this is a second residential area, ears. Ranacciotti wns advised to apply
for rezoning of her two acres from second residential to business, and then
apply for permit to conptruct the buildings.
Mr. Harry Bourquin who applied at last meeting of the Council for permit to oper-
ate a used car lot which was questioned at that meeting, st^t Pd thet his
applic^tion still st^nds -as submitted. He steted that he had acquired the
property on the southwest corner of Diller Street at Jefferson and the
Southern Pacific Railroad, -and intends in the near future to grrde part of
it for use as a used car lot. ''Lien he does this, he will change his addres
to this locrtion. Eventually he mons to construct r. fire proof building,
there. Yeonwhile he plans to scrcre and level lot, end wintod to knot^
whether he m3;ght proceed rith such a project.
City Attorney McCarthy strtod that there vo s nothing in the ordinance
that forbids a. used car lot at a distance from the For -me.
