136
LT tter of creation of position of Assiet; nt Bui.ldin Insppcto-r :^^G presented
by City Manager Blom who read ,. report'of building permits issued and inspec-
tions made, and stated he was satisfied there :^as too -.quch work for one m.^,n
in the department at the -present time, and wns of the opinion thct this con-
dition would continue for some time.
He recommended, that if the Council approved the a-pnointment of an Assistant
Building'Inspector, the splary range should be a minimum of 8200 and the
L
maximum $250 per month, which he stated is in line v*ith salary now being
paid by the County to the Assistant Building Inspectors. He proriosed that
as a be.sic salary, on the surae basis, that sn.laries have been estrblished by
r -
ordinance, so that there would be in addition, the war bonus of'$27.bO per
month.
If the Council approves the creation of this new popition, he continued it
would be necessary to provide funds for the balance of the year; and these
funds are available in the City Map_ager's protion of the budget, due to the
fact that there had been no City Minarer or City MrnagQr's Secretary for
about two months, and ltrs. Donnelly's nosition was vaoc ted. So far n.s the
e_nrninLs of the Building Dep^rtment aro concerned, 564 permits amounting to
an income of $3221.00, were issued. The present budget for the department
is x$4034.00. If $2,000 is transferred, it would provide $6034 for this
fiscal year. It is probable that permits during the balance of the year
will bring in an additional $6,000 which means that the totoal income of
the department mould be somethinLy like $9,000 against cost of operation of
Approximately $6,000.
Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britsongi, that the City Hcnnerer's
recommendation be accepted, and the City Attorney instructed to prenare the
necessary ordinance. On the question, Mr. McNulty inquired if the City
Building Inspectors cork the same nours os the County Building lnsnectors
who he understood reported for work at 8 A.M. The City Manager replied he
could not answer that question as he did not know there was a difference in
the work day hours between the City and the County, ?Motion unanimously
carried, on yell call.
Resolution was offered by Courcilma.n Arrestrong, seconded by Councilman
Fletcher and carried unanimously on roll call, that .52,000 be transferred
from the City Menn.Frer's Fund to cov^r Cost of ssiRt-nt Building Insnector's
s-lrry I"or b^li nee of the fisc^1 vec^,r, 1
RFS OL?TT ION No. 244
AUTuORIZIM, TR,NcFE'R OF A POPTICN OF CITY ?,LNTAGER ACCOUNT
No. 2 TO BUILDIN r DEPART' ENT ACCOUBiT No. 1.4.
RESOLVED that the sum of 12000 be o.nd it is hereby authorized
to be transferred by the City Tie --.surer from City t^nroer Rclary
Account No. 4241, srid amount betnrr neceFs^ry to cover sninry-xnense
of Assist^nt Building,, Insroctor.
Tne "hove ^nd forp, roinT viasnnsnpi and 7donteO ov the Crnzncii, ^f
the City of Redwood City at c- re!pula.r meeting• thereof held on -tha 5th day
of November, 1945, by the following vote:
AYES and in favor of the-assa:e and adoption of the foregoing
resolution:
i
