Stephen Kreiss <br />for the past reek, and th•pt if there wrs no objection, he would continue <br />in that position until he qualified by civil service, an examination for <br />which would be called immediately. <br />RPferrinq to the mnttpr of pavement improvements on Chestnut Street, City <br />Mannager Blom stated he had placed that on the agenda, for the purpose of <br />settinf�; information, regarding what the intention was at the time work <br />was at--t-he-time-wo-xk was commenced about a year and half ago. 0ouncilm1n <br />Gronfrex stated it was his understanding that the Southern Pacific was <br />responsible under its franchise, and they were supposed to put the track <br />in shape and bring it up to grade. The point was raised at that time <br />as to what Redwood City should do in the matter, but he did not know <br />what decision was reached. Mayor Hilton said it was his understanding <br />Chet the Southern PWcific was to pay for -repair of the pavement. On re- <br />qu1st of Councilman Britschgi, this .-:as carried on agenda until next <br />meeting. <br />Cons idexa.tion of instillation of a Centrrl Stores System was al.Ro carried on <br />aapnd^ until n,?xt reetina at reglaost of Councilman Britschgi. <br />City ?FP.nnwer Blom started that he had discussed with Councilman Armstrong <br />the muter of setting up a Central Stores System; that he knew Mr. <br />Eltringham had made a, study of this sort when he iva.s City Clerk; that <br />a, letter h,d been received from M r. Uhlenberg offering to recommend the <br />installation of such n system, with some changes in account records on <br />3 <br />11bor and m,,^.terials, for a maximum sum of $400.00. Mx. Blom suma,ested <br />tho.t Councilornn ArmGtrcnr:, Mr. Uhlenbere', Mr. Eltrigham and himself, study <br />this .T-tter so that he could tonne to the next m�,Aetinq with something <br />concrete. <br />Councilman Fletcnar moved, seconded by Councilman Armstxong, and <br />unani+rously carried,) thGt the City Manager proceed with the study. <br />Reyoning of Middlefield Road carried on egendr until next meeting. <br />Acquisition of perkin?, -rea nerr Southern Pacific carried on agenda until next <br />mget ing. At the suMpestion of Councilman Granger, Mayor IXilton requested <br />the City Manacrer to look into the possibility of working out some arrange- <br />ment with the Southorn Pacific to secure parking space in the Butcherfield <br />area. <br />137 <br />
