I, �` <br />A tentative map for -the subdivision of Lot 7, Valota Park and the opening of <br />a street through said property at a right angle to Valota Avenue with pro- <br />visions for the installation of utilities and all -public improvements, was <br />approved. In connection with the matter, a letter was presented from The <br />American Trust Company advising that it holds $11,000'deposited by John <br />McCarthy to assure completion of public improvements in Hampton Court. Also <br />presented was a certificate from County Controller Beer -that there are no <br />liens against the lands of the subdivision. Councilman Granger moved, sec- <br />onded by Councilman Fletcher, that the map be approved and that the City <br />Clerk be authorized to sign the map." Acting City Engineer advised that all <br />the signatures had not as yet been obtained. Councilman Granger withdrew <br />his motion with the consent of the second. Councilman Granger moved, seconded <br />by Councilman Armstrong, that the letter from the American Trust Cgmpany and <br />the certificate from the County Controller be filed. Motion passed unani- <br />mously. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that the <br />map -be accepted and the City Clerk be authorized to sign the map. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Mrs. Viola Maysenhelder appeared before the Council and presented a bank book <br />showing a deposit of $50.69 which had been collected .by the Redwood City <br />Greater Improvement Club for the improvement of the Easter Bowl. This money <br />had been raised some years ago and Mrs. Mayshelder asked that it be used to <br />improve the Easter Bowl site. Mayor Hilton thanked Mrs. Maysenhelder for <br />}� the contribution and advised that the Bank Book would be turned over to the <br />�;�■ City Treasurer. <br />The Banta and Rice abatement proceedings were next brought up for discussion. <br />-City Manager Blom advised that the petition for rezoning of Middlefield Road <br />covered Mr. Banta's property. If the property were rezoned it would allow <br />Mr. Banta -to continue operating his upholstery business. Councilman. <br />j Britschgi mived, seconded by Councilman Granger, that the Banta and Rice <br />abatement proceedings be carried on the agenda for the meeting of March 18. <br />Motion passed unanimously. Mrs. Thompson, complainant against Mr. Banta, <br />asked that a definite decision be reached in the matter at -that time. <br />Mr. Paul Jones appeared before the Council and asked that an amendment be added <br />to the ordinance governing the keeping of chickens which was to be voted upon <br />at this meeting. He offered a petition signed by fifteen property owners <br />y• requesting that property owners be allowed to keep chickens iri the first resi- <br />a <br />dential district when chicken pens are to be forty feet or more from any <br />residence.and subject to the approval of the health department. A few in- <br />terested members of the audience expressed their views in the matter. The <br />general consensus of the -Council was that chickens should not be allowed in <br />the first residential district. Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Fletcher, that the notice of publication of ordinance repealing <br />Ordinance No. 483, and amending Ordinance No. 451, be filed.
