Councilman Britschgi asked if there would be any conflict in the city attorney not aoting as the port j attorney. City Attorney McCarthy advised that an amendment would overrule j� the earlier provision. ,I Another proposed amendment was to eliminate Port employees from the person- nel system and retirement system. After some discussion, it was decided that this could be accomplished by an amendment to the personnel ordinance and retirement system contract and that an amendment to the charter would not be necessary. r b Section 47f, subsection 8, was proposed to be amended to grant authoity to { the Board of Port Commissioners to purchase material and supplies without advertising for bids in an amount not exceeding $1000; upon a four-fifths y NJ; Vote of the whole Board, they have authority to purchase material and sup- plies in an amount exceeding $1000 but not exceeding $5000. WHEREAS: Pursuant to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, there is to be held, on Tuesday, the 9th day of April, 1946, a general municipal election in the City of Redwood City; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Redwood City does hereby resolve and declare as follows, to -wit: That this Council, of its own initiative, submits to the qualified voters of said City of Redwood City, to be voted upon at said election, the �r propositions or proposals hereinafter stated under the title "Municipal �;■ Ticket". FURTHER RESOLVED, that the conduct of the election upon said proposi- tions or proposals shall be in accordance with a resolution adopted or to be adopted by this Council, calling said general municipal election for the election of three (3) members of said Council of said City, wherein the election precincts are or will be designated and the election officers are or will be appointed; FURTHER RESOLVED that the manner of voting for or against the amending of said Charter of said City shall be as follows: i A sufficient number of ballots shall be and are hereby directed to be prepared and caused to be printed on the proper kind of paper by the Clerk of the City of Redwood City, and be furnished and provided for the use of the voters at said general municipal election at the expense of the city, said ballots to have the following printed matters thereon in addition to any other matter required by law, to -wit: z 227
