274._.
Planning Commission recommendation No. 4: On behalf of.Land Degelopment..C.ompany,
tentative map of Redwood Terrace No. 2 was approved with the exception of
the portion thereof as to Lots -1 to.12.in Block 1, as shown on the map.
Those lots are to be eliminated from the map. Another exception to the map
was the requirement that a street.be opened into Woodside Road approximately
midway in a block of about 1800 feet in length provided the State Highway
v.y
Commission does not disapprove this additional entry into the high speed
road, Mr. Ludwig Werder, representing the Land Development Company, was
agreeable to cutting the street through. Councilman Armstrong brought out
the fact that two subdivisions of this area have been proposed. .One im-
mediately adjoining Valota Road and the other the proposed area now before
the Council which would be at the extreme westerly side of the tract. He
stated this will immediately necessitate the extending of water mains to
the end of the tract. He said it was his understanding that this tract was
to be put in block by block. City Manager Blom advised that it would be
impossible to supply water to that area from the Woodside main and that it
would involve laying a wstei main from the reservoir. Councilman Granger
stated his understanding was that the city would lay the main to the city
limits and that the subdividers would be furnished water as the project
progressed. There was considerable discussion as to the cost of providing
the mains and the manner in which they would be provided. Councilman
Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the tentative map
of Redwood Terrace No. 2 be accepted as recommended by the -Planning Com-
mission and that the matter of water supply be referred to the water study
committee. Motion passed unanimously.
Planning Commission recommendation No. 5: -Favorable action was recommended on
Lyle F. Bourquin's application for permission to resubdivide Lots:l,.2 and
3 in Block 1 of New High School Acres into four lots by cutting off the rear
end of Lots 1, 2 and 3, making a separate lot facing on James Avenue, with
a width of approximately 63 feet and a depth of 120 feet. Each of the four
lots will have over 5000 square feet. Councilman Britsohgi moved, seconded
by Councilman Fletoher, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission
be accepted. Motion passed unanimously.
Planning Commission recommendation No. 6: Approved tentative map of Eaton Avenue
Villa provided the final map shows standard public improvements in Eaton
Villa Place including pavement of street and standard curbs and gutters on
Eaton Avenue and Eaton Villa Place. In view of the rural character of this
development, the Planning Commission recommended that sidewalks;be not re-
quired. City Attorney McCarthy explained that the subdivision is at the
extreme end of the city and that the property owners all desired to keep it
in rural condition. He also stated that the lots are all between 200 and
300 feet in width. Councilman Britschgi believed that once property was
within the city it was no longer rural, while Councilman Armstrong believed
that due to the size of the•lots requests would eventually be made to sub-
divide them and he was not in favor of waiving the sidewalk requirement.
This was the general consensus of the council. Councilman Armstrong moved,
Cid
UL
L%1
ui
Q
