288 improvements therein. Councilman McNulty offered resolution accepting the
final map of Redwood Terrace No.I and authorizing execution of agreement, see-
onded by Councilman Fletcher. Under the question there was considerable dis-
cussion in regard to.a surety bond executed by two members of the Land Develop -
meat Company in the amount of $800000 to assure the letting of a contract for
the performance of public improvements. Mr. Ingersoll advised the signers had
sworn under oaths that they were financially responsible for the amount of
the bond. City Attorney McCarthy advised that the bond is in accordance with
the subdivision ordinance. City Manager Blom raised a question about the
wording in regard to improvements. He said he would prefer that the wording
be changed from "gunniting the banks" to "lining the banks with concrete", his
reason for the request being that gunniting is a patented process. The
engineer for the subdivision, W. G. Frost, agreed to this change. On roll call,
the resolution was unanimously adopted with Oouncilmen Anderson and Britsohgi
absent. There was some further discussion in regard to surrounding unsubdi-
videdrproperty. Mr. Ingersoll stated that the plan was to include certain
sections around the outside of the property included in the map in the assess -
meet district. City Attorney McCarthy advised that the City of Redwood City
will not allow the filing of a map of a subdivision if there are any liens
against the property. City Council was advised by both Mr. Frost and Mr.
Werder that they understood this provision, City Manager Blom stated he
understood it had been the intent of the subdividers to add a fringe of lots
to the final map and that this had not been done. Mr.Frost advised that it
had involved going to the Planning Commission again before filing the final
map and that it had been decided not to add the lots. Councilman Armstrong
moved, seconded by Oouneilman Granger, that it is the understanding of the
City Council that when a map of adjacent area is presented, any.•lien against
that subdivision will be,satisfied before the map is presented. Motion
passed unanimously.
RES 0 LUT ION No. 294
APPROVING FINAL MAP OF REDWOOD TERRACE NO.I AND DIRECTING EXECUTION OF
AGREEMENT TO CONSTRUCT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS THEREIN
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, California,
that:
WHEREAS, the proposed final map of Redwood Terrace No.l, has been approved
by the Planning Commission of said City and submitted to the City Council there-
of, and,s$id map has been checked and approved by the City Engineer for en-
gineering data and by the City Attorney with reference to all legal forme and
notes used in affidavits, certificates, endorsements and offers and acceptances
and dedications and the seals required by law and other general legal form of
same; and
WHEREAS, Land Development Co„ a corporation, hereinafter called "Sub-
divider thereof, has executed and submitted to said Council for execution an
agreement in writing by the terms of which it agrees to initiate and consum-
mate.proeeedings under an appropriate special assessment for the formation of
a special assessment district of said subdivision, and for the issuance of
bonds upon the unpaid assessments thereof, for the financing and oonstruetio n
of said improvements upon said streets and easements dedicated by said map,
as follows:
That Fairview Avenue, Truman Street, Carson Street, Dewey Street, Roose-
velt Avenue, Goodwin Avenue, Poplar Avenue, Halsey Avenue, and the alleys and
easements shown on the Map of Redwood Terrace No. 1, be improved by construct-
ing therein grading, paving, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, sanitary sewers, storm
drains, electroliers with conduit and cable; together with the extension of a
trunk line sewer from the city sewer 1n Oak Avenue to said tract; and the ( i
realignment of the existing channel and lining the banks thereof with concrete
in the easement in Block 4 from between Lots 41 and 45 to between Lots 14 and ip
