0 <br />D <br />• <br />11 <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNGIL <br />APRIL 169 1946 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />On roll call the following were present: Councilmen Harold F. Anderson, C. 0. <br />Armstrong, Carl A. Britschgi, E. A. Flercher, Floyd D. Granger, George W. <br />McNulty, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: <br />City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, City Collector <br />Nelle L. Miramontes, Police Chief C. L. Collins, Deputy Fire Chief Jos. Lodi, <br />Street Superintendent H. L. Winter. <br />Mayor Hilton announced that this meeting had been called for the purpose of can- <br />vassing the ballots of the recent election held April 9, 1946, and the <br />appointment of the newly elected councilmen; <br />City Clerk Dodge advised he had received three absentee ballots. The sealed ab- <br />sentee ballots were opened and tabulated by the City Clerk and City Manager. <br />The results were as follows: <br />Carl A Britschgi 3 Amendment No. 1 <br />Jackson Barrett 1 if If 2 <br />Arthur V. The total remained unchanged from the unofficial count <br />Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, filing of affidavit <br />of notification of election officers and publication of notice of election <br />and nominees for public office of the general municipal election April 9, <br />1946. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Anderson offered resolution declaring canvass of returns and result <br />of municipal election held April 91 1946, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />R E S 0 L U T I.0N No.310 <br />DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULT OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD <br />APRIL 91 1946. <br />WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held in the city of Redwood <br />City, California, on the 9th day of April, 1946 at which three (3) members <br />of the City Council of said City were to be elected and five (5) proposi- <br />tions or measures relating to proposed amendments to the Charter of said <br />City were to be voted on; and <br />WHEREAS, all notices required in connection with said numicipal elec- <br />tion were duly published as required by law, as appears from affidavits of <br />publication thereof on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of said City is the body required by law <br />to canvass the returns of said general municipal election; and <br />WHEREAS, it appears that said general municipal election was held in <br />accordance with the law, on the 9th day of April, 1946, as aforesaid, and <br />that the places for said election were kept open during the time required <br />by law, and said election was held and conducted and the votes thereat <br />received and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained and declared, <br />all as provided by law and the charter of said city; and <br />WHEREAS, on this day, to -wit: Tuesday, the 16th day of April 1946, <br />at the hour of 8 o'clock p.m. on said day, the City Council of the City <br />of Redwood City met at its usual place of meeting and has canvassed the <br />returns of said general municipal election as required by law and the <br />result of said election is found to be as hereinaft&r stated and set forth; <br />IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED by the City Council <br />of the City of Redwood City, as follows: <br />1. That the list of candidates nominated for the office of council- <br />man to be filled at said general numicipal election and the names of the <br />323 <br />
