C. Armstrong, Carl A. <br />i' <br />Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, Arthur V. Swift, William M. 11 <br />Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: t <br />City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector <br />L. M. Duncan, City Collector N. L. Miramontes, Deputy Fire Chief Joseph <br />Lodi, Police Lieutenant Stanley Wood, Superintendent of Streets H. L. <br />Winter and Acting City Engineer Charles E. Randlett. <br />I <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded -by Councilman McNulty, that the manures of <br />it <br />the regular meeting of April 15, and the adjouned meeting of April 16, be <br />approved as mailed. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Application was received from Court Madrone No. 158, F. of A., for dance permit <br />a <br />for Saturdays May 11 and 18. Councilman Britschgi moved that in the future <br />all dance permits from the F. of A. be referred to the City Manager who in <br />turn would refer them to the proper authorities to determine that..the per- r <br />mits comply with all city ordinances. Councilman Armstrong suggested an <br />amendment to the motion. Councilman Britschgi withdrew his motion and <br />Councilman Armstrong moved that this Council delegate this responsibility <br />granted it by ordinance to the City Manager to grant permits under the same <br />terms and conditions as they have been granted in the past. Councilman <br />Britschgi seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br />4 <br />Communication was received from the United Veterans,Memorial Day Committee re- <br />questing the Council, or a representative of the douncil, be present at the <br />Memorial Day program. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman <br />Werder, that the Mayor attend if possible and, if impossible, to delegate ! <br />a member of the Council to represent the city. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Request was received from the Women's Guild of the First Congregational Church <br />to hold a rummage sale May 24, and 25 in the church parlors. Councilman <br />Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the Council dele- <br />gate its authority to the City Manager to grant this permit and others of <br />a similar nature if he finds them in order. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Peninsula Division of the League of Calif- <br />ornia Cities advising of the bi-monthy meeting to be held at the Benjamin <br />Franklin Hotel in San Mateo on Thursday, May 16, 1946. Those planning to <br />attend signified their intention of doing so. <br />Communication was received from City Manager E. W. Blom advising that the terms <br />of Mrs. Lauretta Hodge and Mr. Ralph Case as members of the Recreation <br />Commission expired on April 12. Mrs. Hodge is no longer eligible for <br />
