Councilman McNulty believed an effort <br />should be.made to contact the present owner and attempt to place on option <br />on the property before starting condemnation proceedings. City Manager Blom <br />advised that he believed an option was already held on the property but that <br />he would ascertain if this were true. Councilman Britschgi amended his <br />motion to provide that if an option is alreday held on the property condem- <br />nation proceedings be instituted and if there is no option at present that <br />the city attempt to obtain one. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Armstrong. <br />There was more discussion on the matter and Councilman Britschgi withdrew <br />his motion with the consent of the second and Councilman Armstrong moved <br />adoption of resolution authorizing the City Attorney to start condemnation <br />proceedings against the parking lot area in the event the owner of the prop- <br />erty is unwilling to grant an option on the property to the city for the pur- <br />chase of said property. The motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi and <br />on roll call was unanimously adopted. <br />RES OL UT ION No. 333 <br />AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION OF LANDS IN FEE FOR OFF STREET PUBLIC PARKING <br />LOT ON PERRY STREET <br />RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that it finds <br />and determines and hereby declares: <br />That public interest and necessity require the acquisition, construc- <br />tion and completion by the City of Redwood City of a public improvement, <br />namely, an off-street public parking lot in that certain property hereinafter <br />in this resolution described; <br />That the use of all of said land for said public parking lot is a public <br />use authorized by law; <br />That the taking of said property in fee is necessary to and for such <br />public use, and that it is necessary that all of said property be so taken; <br />That said public parking lot is planned and located in a manner which <br />will be most compatible with the greatest public good and the least private <br />injury; <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of this City be and he is hereby <br />authorized and empowered: <br />To acquire in fee, in the name of this City, the real property herein- <br />after described, by condemnation, in accordance with the provisions of the <br />Code of Civil Procedure of the State of California relating to eminent domain; <br />To prepare and prosecute, in the name of this City such suit in the <br />proper Court having jurisdiction therein as is necessary to condemn such lands <br />in fee for such use; <br />To make application to said Court for an order fixing the amount of such <br />security in the way of money deposits as said Court may direct to be made <br />upon the taking of possession of said property by this City, and for an order <br />permitting this City to take immediate possession and use of said property; <br />To make deposit of such security out of proper funds of said City in <br />such amount so fixed and determined and in such manner as said Court in which <br />the condemnation proceeding hereby authorized is pending may direct. <br />n <br />= <br />The real property hereinabove referred to is situated in the City of <br />Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State of California and particularly de-' <br />scribed as follows: <br />BEGINNING at a point on the southwesterly line of that certain parcel <br />designated Lot "Al' on that certain map entitled "Perry's Subdivision of <br />Lots 13, 14, & 15, Mezesville Villa Lots" filed August 5, 1924 in <br />Volume 11 of Maps at pages 67 and 68, Official Records of San Mateo <br />County, California; said point of beginning being distant South 43000' <br />East 122.72 feet along said Southwesterly line from the most Westerly <br />t ..e <br />cor-Ar of said Lot "A"; and running thence North 37039' East 142.88 feet <br />to point on the Southwesterly line of Perrytreet as that street is <br />shown on the official map of Redwood City; thence along said Southwes- <br />terly line, South 51013' East 171.24 feet and South 52021' East 3.79 fees; <br />
