Councilman Granger moved that <br />the establishments'"under discussion be granted a temporary permit with the <br />understanding that the proprietors contact the Building Inspector and present <br />to him suitable plans in compliance with the ordinance and he, in turn, will <br />submit it to the ,Council. Councilman Armstrong asked what would constitute <br />a temporary permit to which Councilman Granger replied that it would be carried <br />on the agenda and asked the City Attorney if it would not be legal ana proper <br />to handle the matter in this way. City Attorney McCarthy replied that he be- <br />lieved that it would be and that the time could be extended.to the first meeting <br />in August to allow the owners time to workout their plans, Councilman Granger <br />changed his motion to read that the- permits be granted to the. first meeting in <br />August. The motion was seconded by Councilman Anderson and passed unanimously. <br />Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that permits for dances <br />'Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that permits for dances <br />be granted to Court Madrone No. 155, F. of A. for Saturdays, July 7th and 14th <br />until 12:00 Midnight. Motion passed with Councilman Armstrong voting in the <br />negative. <br />Councilman Anderson moved, deconded by Councilman Granger, that permit be granted <br />the Italian -Catholic Federation to serve beer at their dance at Foresters Hall <br />on July 3rd. Motion passed with Councilmen Armstrong voting in the negative. <br />City Manager Mead advised that there has not been filed in the City Clerk's office <br />a map in regard to subdividing Blocks A & B, Oak Villa Homestead. The matter <br />was carried on the agenda. <br />Councilman Anderson moved introduction of salary ordinance, seconded by Councilman <br />Armstrong. Under the question, Councilman Granger stated he was again opposing <br />a rise in the city manager's salary and read a prepared statement setting forth <br />his objections which included non -residence, coundil's appointment of outside <br />auditor:,. passage of appropriation ordinance and sale of equipment without Council <br />authority. The statment said he was 100% in favor of giving the city employees <br />i 5 their raise with the city manager's raise excluded. Mayor Hilton asked if the <br />LMM AM <br />;r <br />City employees would be getting their salaries if this ordinance is not intro- <br />duced. City Attorney McCarthy replied they would get the salaries under the <br />present salary ordinance but that the war bonus ordinance expired June 30. <br />Councilman Granger waked City Manager Mead if he were wiling to have his salary <br />q left out so that the other employees could receive their raise. City Manager <br />Mead replied that he believed that was an unfair question to ask him. He said <br />that three councilmen were in favor of him getting,a raise and three against <br />him and he felt it was a matter for the Council to decide.
