Councilman Granger of the outcome. <br />Mr. Demes YF* Whitehead, representing...the American Legion., appeared before the <br />Council advising that a deed had been granted to the American Legion for <br />the purpose of building a lodge hall and developing the area into a park <br />to be known as the Henry D. McGarvey ,Park.. As. long, as the Legion ex-, <br />fists, this property will remain their property,,.after which time it will <br />revert to the city. Mr. Whitehead said- the Legion would like to have a <br />memorandum from the present city council. concurring..wi,th� the agreement <br />the Legion has made with Mr. McGarvey. Mayor Hilton asked if the matter <br />•could be laid over to the next meeting to allow the council time to <br />k <br />study it more thoroughly. C. <br />'Magnan i desires to erect on his.,property at the northeast corner of <br />Rogers and Stafford Streets. There was considerable discussion as to <br />the wisdom of granting a permit for such a sign. Councilman Armstrong <br />being of the opinion that such a sign should not be allowed to be erected <br />unless there was some good reason shown why it a ould be allowodd He <br />did <br />not believe special consideration should be given to this applicant unless <br />there was some meritorious reason for it. He said the ordinance governing <br />signs was adopted for the purpose of limiting the number of over sized <br />signs.
