80 <br />Minutes of previous meeting were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman <br />Armstrong, seconded by Councilman McNulty, and unanimously passed. <br />Application for dance permit was received from Yvonne Schlichtmann for Wednes- <br />day nights, August 22nd and 29th, fee having been paid. Councilman <br />McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, with stipulation by <br />Councilman Granger that closing hour of 12:00 o'clock midnight be obser- <br />ved, that permit be granted. Motion passed, Councilman Armstrong voting <br />in the negative. <br />Application for dance permit was received from Court Madrone, $1552 F. of A. <br />for two Saturday nights, August 25th and September lst. Councilman <br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and passed, that permit <br />be granted on usual conditions, Councilman Armstrong voting in the <br />negative. <br />Application to conduct a rummage sale from Mrs. Bessie Storey, Womens Guild, <br />Congreg,ntional Church, on Friday and Saturday, September 21st and 22nd. <br />On motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Anderson and <br />passed, application wes referred to the maker with the information that <br />the Council considers it unwise to grant permit with an undesignated <br />location; and when this information is received,•action will be taken. <br />Communication was received from the Traffic Study Committee recommending that <br />parking in front of Purity Store on Marshall Street be parallel to curb <br />and limited to loading and unloading. Councilman Armstrong moved, sec- <br />onded by Councilman Anderson that recommendation of committee be con- <br />curxed in, and tae proper administrative officers be instructed to carry <br />out recommendation. On the question, Councilman Granger stated that <br />while he would vote "yes" on the motion, it was with the understanding <br />that no special privilege was being granted the Purity Store over other <br />citizens as he disapproved of so many street parking zones. A general <br />discussion followed, in which Mr. John Nordstrand, member of the Traffic <br />Study Committee joined. <br />Councilman Britschgi entered at 6:13 <br />With the consent of his second, Councilman Armstrong withdrew his original <br />motion, and moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and unanimously passed, <br />that the matter be referred back to the Traffic Study Committee. <br />Attorney John Weeks, representing Mr. Newman, owner of property at 336 Buckeye <br />Street, requested extension of -time for his client to make adjustments and <br />alterations to building, which up to the present have been impossible be- <br />cause of_man and material shortages. <br />City Attorney McCarthy reed a, resolution which he had prepared declaring the <br />property to -be a muisance and the owner directed within thirty days of <br />passage of the resolution to make the premises comply with building ordi- <br />nance: Councilman Armstrong moved adoption of the resoluti;n, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty.
