Councilman Granger voted in the <br />negative, stating he felt this matter had been discussed for many years <br />without results, and th^t temporary measures would at least relieve the <br />present situation. <br />City Clerk Dodge read report of Acting City Engineer Clarke regarding con- <br />struetion'of pavement, curbs, gutters and sidewalks on Beech Street, <br />Broadway to Spring Street and Bay Road; Beech Street to Chestnut Street,• <br />also Chestnut Street, Spring Street to Bay Road. Councilman Anderson <br />moved, seconded by Council McNulty that proceedings be started so that <br />work may be started in the spring. Motion passed. <br />City Clerk Dodge read report of Acting City Engineer Clarke regarding Alameda <br />and Blandford Blvd. ditch. Councilman Britschgi moved,.seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty that the City Engineering Department notify the pro- <br />perty owner that there is sufficient room for construction of a sidewalk. <br />Attorney James O'Keefe, Jr. presented plan for enclosure at Club Scamus to <br />comply with ordinance to allow dancing in that establishment. Councilman <br />Anderson moved that permit be granted providing enclosure is completed <br />in accordance with plan submitted. Seconded by Councilman Britschgi, <br />motion passed, Councilman Armstrong and Councilmen McNulty voting in the <br />negative. <br />City Clerk submitted sketch of enclosure proposed by Club Deacon to comply <br />with city ordinance,,. to allow dancing in that establishment. Councilman <br />Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi that permit be granted <br />providing enclosure is completed in accordance with plan submitted. <br />Motion passed, Councilman Armstrong and McNulty voting in the negative. <br />L.W. Grizzle of the Sequoia Construction Company applied for permit to erect <br />a. real estate office on E1 Camino Real and Oakwood Avenue. Councilman <br />Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that permit be denied <br />until such time as building meets fire and building code requirements. <br />On roll call, motion failed to carry, Councilman Armstrong and Council- <br />man Britschgi voting "aye". <br />Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that permit <br />be granted with the understanding that applicant post a bond for $200.00 <br />guaranteeing that building will be removed within four months. Motion <br />passed, Councilmen Armstrong and Britschgi voting in the negative. <br />Agenda: lst meeting in December. <br />On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, consideration <br />of rat proof ordinance was carried over to December 3rd meeting. motion <br />unanimously passed. <br />Discussion on re -zoning of Lathrop Street followed, City Attorney McCarthy re- <br />porting that the Planning Commission was endeavoring to arrange a joint <br />meeting of the Council and Planning Commission to look over the property. <br />On motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and <br />unanimously passed, Council will meet with Planning Commission on Tuesday <br />August 28th, and subject is placed on agenda, for first meeting in <br />September. <br />
