83 <br />City Attorney McCarthy reported that Mr.. Wiener had advised him that fence on <br />D Street had been removed. Councilman Armstrong requested the Building <br />Inspector to check on this matter. <br />Application for erection of sign by Ross Chamberlain on Bay Shore Highway was <br />received. On motion of Councilman Britschgi seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, application was denied. <br />City Attorney McCarthy read resolution resolution granting quit claim of city's <br />interest in tax delinquent lots in which the State of California has an <br />interest. On motion of Councilman McNulty seconded by Councilman Anderson <br />resolution wa.s adopted unanimously on roll dall, Councilman Fletcher noted <br />r <br />absent. <br />City Attorney McCarthy read resolution setting up equipment replacement reserve <br />in 1945-46 budget, amounting to $1500.00. On motion of Councilman Anderson, <br />seconded by Councilman Armstrong, resolution was adopted on roll call, <br />Councilman Fletcher noted absent. <br />1 City Attorney McCarthy presented am ordinance fixing tax rate for the city at <br />$1,4640. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty <br />introduction of ordinance was approved, on roll call, Councilman Fletcher <br />noted absent. <br />Mayor Hilton appointed Councilman Anderson to replace Councilman Britschgi <br />on the Real Estate Committee, due to the latter's inability to serve on <br />account of absence from the city, and added Building Inspector Duncan to <br />i <br />the committee. <br />On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, and unanimously <br />passed, Superintendent of Streets Winter was instructed to make a.survey <br />j and report at the next meeting on temporary street repairs, particularly <br />ji in the business district where sidewalks were torn up end repair made by <br />I+ <br />j� the city, his idea being that with cement contractors available now, <br />'c permanent repairs might be undertaken. <br />City Attorney McCarthy reporting on condemnation -suit to open Poplar Avenue to <br />Hudson Street, advised that Mr. Thomas J. Kennedy had deeded his lot to the <br />city for $250.00. Councilman Anderson offered a resolution accepting deed <br />to Lot 8, Block 1, Redwood Oaks, from Thomas J. Kennedy, and to Lot 9, <br />Block 1, Redwood Oaks from Esther M. Lunsman, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty. McNulty, adobtion of resolution which carried unanimously on roll call, <br />Councilman Fletcher noted absent. <br />City Attorney McCarthy reported receipt of a letter from Senator Parkman en- <br />closing one from Chief of Budget Accounts on Cemeteries of the State of <br />li California, to the effect that although Governor John B. Weller in 1859, <br />had accepted a trust of the cemtery for himself, no legislation had been <br />enacted to carry out the trust.
