Councilman Granger recommended that Mr. Winter contact the U.S.E.S <br />in the Courthouse or at San Mateo; Mayor Hilton stated that Council <br />would approve advertising for help, Councilman Granger adding that �1 <br />applicants oe given to understand th-t veterans formerly in the city �! <br />i <br />employ, would be given first claim on jobs upon their return. <br />City Attorney McCarthy presented resolution regarding re -zoning of Alspaugh <br />property approved by Planning Commission at its last meeting, stating <br />that Commission had adopted a motion while resolution recites in a <br />formal manner its action. He requested Council's decision regarding <br />notifying property owners in vicinity affected by re -zoning. Council- <br />man Armstrong moved, seconded oy Councilman Fletcher that notice be <br />published, and that resolution be referred to Planning Commission with <br />request that it 'be presented to Council before next meeting. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and unanimously <br />passed, that matter of State aid for Union Cemetery be placed on agenda. <br />for next meeting. Council Granger stated that he would be in Sacramento <br />the end of the month, and if Council so desires, he would call on the <br />Governor.to request his cooperation in having wishes of donor of Cemetery <br />to Governor, carried out. Mayor Hilton appointed Councilman Granger to <br />call on the Governor regarding this matter. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that abatement <br />proceedings against Rice, Hollenbaugh, Banta., Buhler, Roberts, Eckerle <br />and Klang properties be carried on agenda until first meeting in October, <br />and City Clerk be instructed to address a letter to each person mentioned <br />i <br />as well as complainants, to appear at that meeting. Motion passed. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher that ordinance <br />fixing tax rate be adopted. On roll call, ordinance wes ^dopted, <br />` Councilman Anderson noted absent. <br />Councilman Armstrong presented cony of 1945-46 budget, stating that it was _ <br />identical with budget considered at caucus meeting n' <br />g g prepar,,tory to con- <br />sideration of the tax rate, except for errors discovered at the time, <br />and moved adoption of budget prepared and submitted, with summary,de- <br />tails of operation and classification in each department, with estimated <br />revenues for fiscal year, budget amounting to $416,231.60. Motion <br />seconded by Councilman Granger and unanimously passed. <br />Report of Real Estate Committee submitted. Councilman Britschgi moved to <br />accept report, seconded by Councilman Armstrong and unanimously carried. <br />Councilman Fletcher left the meeting. <br />City Attorney McCarthy submitted resolution approving sale of lots for delin- <br />quent taxes, and requested information regarding facts to be incorpor- <br />ated in notice for publication. Discussion of details of sale followed, <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong and carried, <br />that payment of 5% commission to brokers be approved, with an additional <br />i <br />commission of 3% to A.
