by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, California, at a meeting thereof 1 0 7
held on the 3d day of February, 1947, by the following vote of the members thereof;
Illy AYES, and in favor thereof, Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, McNULTY, SWIFT,
WERDER and Mayor HILTON.
I
NOES, Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT, Councilman: ARMSTRONG
i RALPH S. DODGE
y City Clerk of the City of Redwood City
APPROVED:
i
W. W: HILTON
Mayor of the City of'Redwood City
! City Attorney McCarthy advised that he had been studying the matter of delinquent bonds
and asked that the report be carried on the agenda. It was so ordered.
City Manager Blom advised that at the last Council meeting he had submitted an estimate
from the B & B Termite Company to make repairs to Fire House No. 2 and that the
Council had suggested that he advertise for bids to do this work. This had been
done and one bid received from A. G. Mange on a lump sum basis of $2225. The bid
was somewhat limited as to the amount of work it covered. If additional work were
needed, he would expect additional pay. The estimate of the B. & B Termite Company
was on a cost plus basis with a maximum price of $1700 quoted. It was the recom-
mendation of the City Manager that the bid of A. G. Mange to rejected and he be
authorized to enter into a private contract with the B & B Termite Company to do
the work on a cost plus basis. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman
i Swift, that the City Manager's recommendation be accepted. Under the question,
Councilman McNulty questioned whether the city could have work done on a cost plus
basis under the provisions of the Charter. City Attorney McCarthy advised that
under Section 67 of the Charter if the City rejects all bids it may have the work
in question done under day labor. It was his opinion that it would be legal for
the city to enter into a contract with the B & B Termite Company to do the work
but suggested a resolution be adopted. Councilman Britschgi withdrew his motion
and offered resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract with
the B & B Termite Company to make repairs to Fire House No. 2 on a cost plus basis
and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Swift. Under the question, Council-
man Granger requested that the contract include the Charter provisions relating
to citizenship, etc. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with Coun-
_ Gilman Armstrong absent.
RESOLUTION No. 431
AWARDING CONTRACT FOR REPAIRS TO FIRE HOUSE No. 2, IN REDWOOD CITY.
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City that a contract for re-
pairs of Fire House No. 2 be awarded to B & B Termite Company on a cost plus basis,
with a maximum liability of the City of One Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars
01,700.00) for repairs specified in a letter from said B & B Termite Company dated
I January 13, 1947.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to
execute such contract for and on behalf of this City.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 3d day of February, 1947, by the following vote:
AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution:
Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON
NOES: Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Councilmen: ARMSTRONG.
