to negotiate with the California Water Service Company for the Redwood Village 5 5 <br />' water system for a sum not to exceed $2b,b50. Motion passed unanimously. Councilman <br />"Britsehgi asked when the annexation proceedings would be complete. City Manager Blom <br />advised that the city would accept full responsibility for the district as soon as <br />the certificate is returned from the Secretary of State. Councilman Britschgi cited <br />the need for street name signs in the area. Mayor Hilton asked if the tees were in <br />!!' ' for the fire hydrants. City Manager Blom replied that they were not. He further <br />stated that some fire hydrants could be put in immediately and that a shipment of <br />more material was expected shortly so that the rest could be installed then. <br />City Manager Blom requested that recommendations for appointments to the Recreation Com_ <br />�- mission be carried on the agenda. It was so ordered. <br />M ' Application for permit to operate a daytime nursery school was received from Mrs. L. G. <br />Jungemann. The location is to be on Madison Avenue between Ruby and Sapphire Streets. <br />A sketch was presented of the building to be constructed and it was stated that it <br />would meet the requirements of the State Fire Marshall, The Department of Social <br />Welfare had indicated that they will grant a permit to operate a school upon com- <br />pletion of the Fire Marshall's inspection. Mr. Jungemann appeared and in answer to <br />an inquiry advised that the immediate adjacent property is vacant although across <br />the street from the proposed site there are some homes being constructed. According <br />to the State regulations, the school will have a,capacity for between 100 and 120 <br />pupils although it was expected that the enrollment would probably be between 30 <br />and 40 pupils, between the ages of 2-1/2 and 4-1/2. Councilman Armstrong moved <br />that, inasmuch as all state regulations were being met and permits being granted by <br />j <br />state departments, the permit be granted subject to a business license being issued, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCarthy in referring to the ordinance discovered that a public hear- <br />ing was required on applications of this nature. Councilman Armstrong moved the <br />previous action of the Council be rescinded and the Clerk be instructed to mail <br />jnotices to all interested persons of a public hearing to be held at the next regular <br />meeting of the Council in compliance with the terms of the ordinance. The motion <br />i <br />was seconded by Councilman Werder and passed unanimously. <br />Affidavit of Publication of Resolution of Intention No. 1947-1 Valota Road Sewers was <br />ordered filed on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Motion passes unanimously. <br />Mayor Hilton asked if there were any protestants to the proposed improvements. <br />f There were none and the City Clerk advised that he had received no written protests. <br />' Councilman McNulty offered adoption of Resolution of Intention No. 1947-1 and moved <br />a <br />its adoption, seconded by Councilman Swift. On roll call, resolution was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />RE S 0 L U T ION No. 455 <br />RESOLUTION OVERRULING PROTESTS UNDER RESOLUTION OF INTENTION No. 1947-1 <br />f rod <br />WHEREAS the Council of the City of Redwood City, did, on the 17th day of March, <br />1947, pass and adopt Resolution of Intention No. 1947-1, to order the following <br />work to be done and improvements to be made in said City of Redwood City, to -wit: <br />The area and street to be improved are as follows: <br />Valota Road from the center of Redwood Avenue to the sewer in Woodside Road. <br />The improvements herein referred to are as follows: <br />
