He was advised by the Building Inspector that a permit would be granted _ `'' 9 9 <br />for each part of the building as it is built and City Attorney Currie advised that a <br />variance in the zoning ordinance was applied for based on presentation of their plans. <br />Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the recommendation of <br />the Planning Commission be rejected. <br />Reverend Hannan appeared under the question and advised that it was the desire of the <br />church -to build as attractive a building as possible and that it had not been�ascer- <br />tained whether the present plans could be continued with the restrictions as recom- <br />mended by the Planning Commission until the architect had been consulted. He also <br />stated that the church did not wish to build a two story building. Another resident <br />appeared and requested that it be required that the entire building be built at one <br />time. A roll call vote was requested and the following vote recorded: Ayes and in <br />favor of the motion: Councilmen Granger, McNulty, Swift, Werder. Noes and against <br />the motion: Councilmen Britschgi, Holmquist and Mayor Hilton. Councilman McNulty <br />believed the Planning Commission should be instructed to submit a recommendation <br />that was not contrary to the ordinance. City Attorney Currie advised that the Plan - <br />ping Commission was authorized to recommend approval of the request as submitted <br />under provisions of.Ordinance No. 460. In view,of this opinion, Councilman McNulty <br />requested that his vote be changed to the affirmative. Councilman Swift moved, sec- <br />onded by Councilman -McNulty, that the former motion be rescinded. Motion passed <br />unanimously. Councilman Britschgi offered Resolution, seconded by Councilman <br />Holmquist, that the recommendation of -the Planning Commission in regard to the <br />application of the First Christian Church be accepted. Motion passed unanimously <br />on a roll call vote. <br />R E 8 0 L U T ION No. 47d <br />RESOLUTION'AUTHORIZING FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH TO EXCEED IAT COVERAGE <br />RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that the application <br />of the FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH to exceed the maxium lot coverage in the construction <br />of a church on Lots 29 and 29, Block 40, Redwood Highlands (being the -northerly <br />corner of Brewster Avenue and Lowell Street) be and it is hereby approved, subject <br />to the following terms and conditions: <br />1. Said lot coverage shall not exceed fifty-one percent (51%); <br />2. Minimum setback line on Brewster Avenue shall be twenty-five (25) feet; <br />3. Minimum side yard on Lowell Street to be ten (10) feet; <br />�}. Minimum side and rear side yards adjoining the key lots on Brewster and . <br />Lowell to be ten (10) feet. <br />Passes and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br />meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of June, 19470 by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing Resolution: <br />Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: NONE <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S.
