M. <br />IN THE ABSENCE of Mayor Hilton, City Clerk Dodge called the meeting to order and announced <br />1 <br />nominations were in order for a mayor protem. Councilman Swift nominated Councilman <br />Granger,.seconded by Councilman Werder. Motion passed unanimously. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilman H. E. Holmquist, George W. McNulty, <br />William M. Werder, Mayor pro tem Floyd D. Granger and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also <br />present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Cuthbert B. Currie, Chief of <br />Police C. L. Collins, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Assistant Engineer R. E. Pontow, <br />Assistant Engineer H. L. Winter, City Collector Paul E. Perrin, Auditor -Assessor <br />John J. Brophy, Absent: Mayor W. W. Hilton and Councilman Carl A. Britschgi. <br />MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING WERE APPROVED as mailed on motion of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE reporting the <br />activities of the Redwood City office from January 1, 1947, through May, 1947. <br />Communication was ordered held over for budget consideration. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM SMITH -DOUGLAS, CONTRACTORS, INC.,.Springfield, Missouri, <br />e <br />requesting opportunity to bid on refuse collection in the city. The communication <br />was ordered filed on motion of Councilman Swift, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM SALLIE ROBERTSON LONG protesting manner in which work <br />is being done.on Madison Avenue. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman <br />ff k <br />McNulty, that the communication be referred to the City Manager for attention. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE REDWOOD CAB COMPANY AND LUXOR CAB COMPANY requesting <br />a change in meter fares as provided in the ordinance. Councilman Werder moved, <br />t <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, that the City Clerk acknowledge the communication and <br />suggest that the cab companies within the city meet and agree on minimum rates,. etc. <br />and present their recommendation to the Council at the next meeting.
