[j] <br />9 <br />CN <br />�,P1 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />July 21, 1947 <br />5:00 P. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL; the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger, <br />H. E. Holmquist, George W. McNulty, Arthur V. Swift, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk <br />R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Cuthbert Be <br />Currie, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, City <br />Collector Paul E. Perrin, Police Lieutenant Stanley Wood, Assestant Engineer R. E. <br />Pontow, and Assisstant Engineer H. L. Winter. Absent: Councilman William M. Werder, <br />MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING were"approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Britschgi, <br />seconded by Councilman Holmquist` Motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION'WAS RECEIVED FROM THE REDWOOD CAB COMPANY requesting an extension of ninety <br />days on their sixth permit. The City Clerk explained that the Redwood Cab'Company <br />had recently purchased Sarsfields Cab. A letter was also received from the West Bay <br />Motors stating that the Redwood Cab had a car on order. Councilman Granger moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, that the extension of ninety days be granted the <br />Redwood Cab Company to fill their sixth permit. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM MRS. JOHN F. CAHILL protesting to the change in numbering <br />on Hopkins, Brewster and Whipple Avenues. Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger, that the communication be filed and Mrs. Cahill notified that <br />final action had already been taken to change the numbering on these streets. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM GEORGE H: PETERSON AND HANNA M. PETERSON protesting the <br />- closing of the bridge on Reese Street between Redwood Avenue and Oak Avenue. The <br />communication was referred.to the City Manager for attention. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS'RECEIVED FROM THE DIASTER PAINTING CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION protesting the <br />granting of a permit to veterans to paint house numbers on street curbs without <br />paying a license. City Manager Blom and City Collector Perrin both stated that the <br />veterans had been charged a license fee. The City Clerk was directed to write the <br />Association and inform them that a license fee had been charged the veterans. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM C. G. UHLENBERG submitting cost of audit with four pro- <br />posals. It was decided after'some discussion to accept the proposal providing for <br />three audits during the year on a continuous audit basis at a yearly cost of $1300. <br />This proposal was also the recommendation of Mr. Uhlenberg. Councilman Granger <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the recommendation of C. G. Uhlenberg be <br />accepted for a quarterly audit at the cost of $1300 per year. Under the question, <br />there was a question raised by the Mayor as to whether there had been difficulty with <br />the audit during the past year. City Manager Blom replied that there had been some <br />but that the difficulty had been straightened out. Motion passed unanimously. <br />h <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE CALIFORNIA MISSION TRAILS ASSOCIATION asking for a <br />donation of 0250 for the fiscal year. It was recalled that members of the Mission <br />Trails Association had recently requested the Council to provide a sum of $150 and <br />Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the sum of $150 be <br />donated as originally requested by the Association. Under the question, Councilman <br />Granger asked if the money should be transferred to the publicity fund of the <br />Chamber of Commerce. City Attorney Currie believed it should be transferred from <br />the general fund. Motion passed unanimously. <br />
