i <br />{ <br />232 <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM RONALD L. CAMPBELL submitting his resignation from the <br />Planning Commission. Councilman Swift moved, seconded by Councilman Granger, that <br />the resignation be accepted and the City Clerk be directed to write to Mr. Campbell <br />thanking him for his past service. The matter of a new appointment was to be placed <br />on the agenda. Motion passed unanimously. <br />APPLICATION FOR RESTAURANT LICENSE was received from Steve M. Kovacich to operate,The <br />Fireside at 1414 Main Street. A beer and wine license was held by the applicant. <br />The necessary fee was attached to the application which also bore the approval of <br />the Health, Fire, Building and Police Departments. Councilman Swift moved, seconded <br />by Councilman Britschgi, that the permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />APPLICATION FOR DANCE PERMIT was received from Court Madrone No. 159, F. of A- It was <br />explained that this application was being presented to the Council because it was <br />requested that the dance be operated until 1:00 A. M. Inasmuch as the bare were <br />allowed to stay open until 2:00 A. M., it was felt there should be no objection <br />to the later closing of the dance. Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Council- <br />man Swift, that the permit be granted until 1:00 A. M. Under the question, City <br />Manager Blom inquired if this motion carried with it the approval of other appli- <br />cations. After some discussion, the motion was changed to read that permits <br />would be granted until 1:00 A. M. when sponsored by a local bona fide organization. <br />When sponsored by an individual, applications should be referred to the Council. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM CITY ENGINEER C. L. LONGSON advising of recommendation <br />of Traffic Study Commission making arterial stops at intersections of Hudson Street. <br />There was some discussion as to whether or not there should be a four-way stop at li <br />Roosevelt Avenue and Hudson Street due to the location of Hawes Park. It was ex- <br />plained that the Commission was still studying the matter of making additional stops <br />along this street and it was decided to accept the recommendation as presented at <br />this time. Councilman Granger offered resolution accepting recommendation of the <br />Traffic Safety Commission and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. <br />On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with Councilman Werder absent. <br />RESOLUTION No. 492 <br />ORDERING STOP SIGNS AT CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS OF HUDSON STREET <br />RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that the portion of <br />Hudson Street between Hudson Road•and Jefferson Avenue be designated an arterial, <br />and that stop signs be placed at the following intersections in favor of the traffic <br />on Hudson Street: <br />1. Hudson Street <br />and <br />Palm Avenue <br />2. Hudson Street <br />and <br />Poplar Avenue <br />Hudson Street <br />.0 <br />and <br />Arden Court <br />' <br />43. <br />Hudson Street <br />and <br />Oak Avenue <br />5. Hudson Street <br />and <br />Roosevelt Avenue <br />6. Hudson Street <br />and <br />Lincoln Avenue <br />7. Hudson Street <br />and <br />Vera -Avenue <br />S.
