Ll
ATTEST:
RALPH S. DODGE
Clerk of the City of Redwood City
I hereby approve the foregoing Resolution this
21st day of July, 1947.
W. W. RIV90N
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
233
Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the matter of arterial
stops along Brewster and Hopkins Avenues be referred to the Traffic Safety Commission
with the thought in mind that they be given the same consideration as Hudson Street.
Motion passed unanimously.
0
COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM CITY ENGINEER C. L. LONGSON advising that it had been
necessary to close the Bradford Street Bridge and asking whether the Council desired
the Engineering Department to prepare an estimate for a new bridge, prepare an
estimate for a temporary crossing or to leave the bridge closed indefinitely.- It
,was explained in the letter that the plans of the State Highway will eventually
eliminate the bridge. It was the consensus of the Council that'the bridge should not
be closed indefinitely due to the heavy traffic which uses it. Councilman Britschgi
moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the Engineering and Street Departments
be authorized to prepare estimates of repairing the bridge for a period of five to
ten years: Motion passed unanimously.
COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM MRS. ELSIE SCOTT, 1435 Roosevelt Avenue, requesting per-
mit to make commercial and party sandwiches in her home. Due to the fact that
this location is in the second residential district, Councilman Britschgi moved,
seconded by Councilman Holmquist, that the permit be'denied. Motion passed
unanimously.
COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM DAVID STOTT submitting his resignation as a member of
the Board of Review. Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty;
that the resignation be accepted with regret. Motion passed unanimously.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUBMITTED THE NATE OF RUSSELL COONEY TO REPLACE MR. STOTT on the Board
- of Review, seconded by Councilman Swift. Motion passed unanimously.
MAYOR HILTON SUBMITTED THE NAME OF A. P. PATTEN to replace Mr. Sanford Dole on the Board
of Library Trustees. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that
the recommendation of the Mayor be accepted. Motion passed unanimously.
MR. LOUIS WEISS appeared before the Council requesting that the Council give more consid-
eration to conserving the funds of the city and the proper expenditure of them. He
also criticized the fact that the budget was not adopted until after the beginning
of the fiscal year. It was explained that provisions of the Charter made it im-
possible to do otherwise and Councilman Granger suggested that thought be given to
the possibility of amending the Charter to provide that the budget be adopted earlier.
CITY CLERK DODGE ADMINISTERED THE OATH OF OFFICE to A. P. Patten as a member of the Board.
of Library Trustees. IThe Mayor welcomed Mr. Patten and wished him success:
COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM!MR. AND MRS. A. ROY requesting permit to operate a,motel
and trailer court on Bayshore Highway. Plans were submitted and Mr. Roy appeared
before the Council. The Building Inspector advised that the plans of the auto court
were satisfactory. Inasmuch as the Roys had previously operated a trailer court
