He advised that he concurred in the amount set for depreciation due to the fact <br />that there is a great deal of obsolete equipment. According to a report of the <br />2235 <br />Electric Department, 50% of the wire has poor insulation or no insulation, 25% of the <br />poles are in need of replacing and 35% of the arms. He suggested that a committee be <br />appointed to meet with the City Manager and Fire, Chief and representatives of the <br />P. G. & E. to study the matter further. It was agreed that the matter would be <br />handled in this manner. <br />THIS WAS THE TIME SET FOR HEARING ON ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS. City Clerk Dodge advised that <br />he had addressed communications to the Yellow Cab Company and Gray Thorning Lumber <br />Company asking them to have a representative present at this meeting. A representa- <br />tive of the Yellow Cab Company appeared and advised they were attempting to locate <br />another garage and asked for an extension of sixty to ninety days. Councilman <br />Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the abatement proceedings against <br />the garage at 1135 Main Street be continued until the first meeting in October. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Lindsey Gray appeared in behalf of the Gray Thorning Lumber Company and advised <br />that they wished to improve the appearance of the mill and hoped to operate it again <br />soon. Councilman Granger asked if Mr. Gray would be willing to submit to the, <br />Building Inspector a plan of improvements. This was agreed upon and it was moved <br />by Councilman Granger seconded by Councilman Swift, that the matter be carried on <br />the agenda,until such time as the plan is received by the Building Inspector. City <br />Attorney requested a definite date be specified and the motion was changed so that <br />the matter was carried on the agenda until the second meeting in .August,. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />In regard to proceedings against 1321 Middlefield Road, Building Inspector Duncan <br />reported that this building was about three-quarters torn down. <br />In regard to 524-526 Arguello Street, Building Inspector Duncan reported nothing <br />.had been done toward tearing this building down. Councilman McNulty moved that the <br />matter be continued until the next meeting and the City Attorney directed to pre. <br />pare a resolution ordering its removal within the next thirty days. The motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Holmquist and passed unanimously. <br />In regard to 2202 Middlefield Road, Building Inspector Duncan advised that the <br />owner was attempting to get a wrecker to tear the building down. Councilman Granger <br />moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the matter be carried on the agenda and <br />the City Attorney directed to prepare a resolution ordering its removal within <br />thirty days. Motion passed unanimously. <br />IN REGARD TO CONSIDERATION OF MINIMUM CHARGES FOR TAXICABS, two taxicab representatives <br />were present but no decision had been reached between them as to the amount which <br />they believed should be charged. The matter was carried on the agenda for a <br />definite decision at that time. <br />PLANS OF THE PROPOSED RECREATION BUILDING were submitted for inspection by the Council as <br />well as a set of specifications. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, that,the City Manager be authorized to call for bids for the recreation <br />building. Motion passed unanimously. <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE advised that it would be necessary to publish a notice of public <br />_ hearing before the Master Plan could be adopted. Councilman Granger moved, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, that in compliance with the State Planning Act a notice of <br />
