i <br />8 <br />n <br />11 <br />COUNTY and the CITY OF REDWOOD -CITY entered'into a contract for the deposit.of. . „ <br />Sixty-five Thousand Dollars ($65,000.00) with the above-named bank, to insure the <br />completion of said public improvements in the tract known as Redwood Terrace-No.2,and <br />WHEREAS the parties thereto desire to modify said depositary contract and <br />authorize said bank to withhold the sum of Fifty-five Hundred Dollars ($5,500.00) <br />until the street lighting system in said Redwood.Terrace No. 2 is completed; <br />_. .:, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />that said original depositary contract be modified to authorize said First National <br />Bank of San Mateo County to withhold the sum of Fifty-five Hundred Dollars ($5,500.00) <br />until completion of the street lighting system; <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to enter <br />into such modification of depositary contract in accordancelwith the form thereof <br />exhibited to the City Council on the alst day of July, 19471 <br />I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of Resolution No. 493, adopted <br />by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of July, 1947, <br />at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and the,seal of said City this <br />22nd day of July, 1947, <br />RALPH S. DODGE <br />City Clerk of the City of Redwood City <br />Ex Officio Clerk of the Council thereof. <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE ADVISED THAT A SECTION OF THE VEHICLE CODE permits the city by ordi- <br />nance to prohibit the use of streets by heavy trucks and to limit the weight of <br />trucks. He stated this must be done by giving public notice and erecting signs on <br />the streets. A member of one of the material companies requested that they be <br />given an opportunity to discuss this matter. Councilman Granger moved,,seconded by <br />Councilman Swift, that the matter be referred to the City Manager for the purpose <br />of selecting a committee from the trucking companies to work out a solution as to <br />the route and tonnage to be allowed on the streets. Motion passed unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER` INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE SOUTHERN <br />PACIFIC COMPANY in regard to crossing signals at.Broadway was presented by City <br />Attorney Currie. The agreement provides that the city will pay 50% of the cost of <br />installation of two flashing signals, the cost being estimated at #500. Councilman <br />Britschgi offered resolution and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Swift. <br />On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with Councilman Werder absent. <br />RE SOLUT ION No. 494. <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONTRACT WITH SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD FOR. <br />INSTALLATION OF FLASHING LIGHT SIGNALS AND GONGS AT BROADWAY. <br />RESOLVED by. the City Council of the City of Redwood City that a contract be- <br />tween the City and the Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, for the installation <br />of two single flashing light signals and gongs at Broadway in the City of Redwood <br />City and that the City reimburse the Southern Pacific Company for fifty per cent <br />(50M .of the cost of installation, be and the same is hereby authorized; <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to enter <br />into such contract, in accordance with the form thereof exhibited to the City Coun- <br />cil on the 21st day of July, 1947- <br />I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true.copy of Resolution No. 494, <br />adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of <br />July, 1947, at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of said City this <br />22nd day of July, 1947.. <br />RALPH S.
