k. COUNCILMAN WERDER MOVED FILING OF AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION OF SALARY ORDINANCE, seconded" 4 7
by Councilman Holmquist. Under the question, Councilman Britschgi asked if it'would
be possible to make any changes in the salaries if the ordinance was adopted at this
time. He stated he would like to consider the salary of the City Manager further
inasmuch as he was not in favor of only a $15 raise. City Attorney Currie advised
that it would be necessary to republish the ordinance if there were any changes made
but that it could be held over. City Manager Blom suggested that the ordinance be
adopted at this meeting and if any change were made it could be done by an amend-
ment. It.was his opinion that to hold up the adoption of the ordinance would work
a hardship on the employees. This suggestion was accepted. Motion passed unani-
mously.
COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST OFFERED THE SALARY ORDINANCE for 1947-49 and moved its adoption,
seconded by Councilman McNulty. On roll call, ordinance was unanimously adopted.
COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST SUBMITTED THE NAME -OF PAUL JONES to fill the unexpired term of
Ronald Campbell on the planning commission, seconded by Councilman Granger. Motion
passed unanimously.
CITY MANAGER BLOM REPORTED THAT HE HAD MADE AN INSPECTION of the Robertson property. A
request had been made by members of the Robertson family that they by allowed to
remove a walnut spindle type staircase. They have already removed the shutters,
door bell and door knocker: Councilman Swift moved, seconded by Councilman Granger,
that the request to remove the staircase be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
CITY MANAGER BLOM FURTHER REPORTED THAT THE TENANTS of the Robertson property would like
to remain in the house. He stated that only about four of the rooms in the house
are libeable. He believed it would be desirable to have someone living in the
house to take care of the grounds, etc. and suggested that a nominal' rental be
charged. A city employee is at present residin g- in the house. Councilman Granger
moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the matter be carried on the agenda and
the City Manager bring in a report and recommendation as to the amount of rent
which should be charged. Motion passed unanimously.
CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE PRESENTED A RESOLUTION WHICH HAD BEEN PREPARED BY Kirkbridge &
Wilson in regard to the inclusion of Redwood Village in .the North Fair Oaks sewerage
district. The terms of the agreement would provide that Redwood Village be under
the jurisdiction of the County rather than the city but which means this district
would share the expense of the sewage treatment plant. If this area were to be
under the jurisdiction of the city, this district would not have to participate in
the cost of the plant due to the fact that it was annexed to the city after the
i
bond issue was passed. The City Attorney advised that he had checked the resolu-
tion and all papers and they were in order. Councilman Werder offered resolution
and, moved its adoption providing that Redwood Village remain in the jurisdiction
1 of the County of San Mateo insofar as the sewage district is concerned. The motion
j was seconded by Councilman Holmquist and on roll call resolution was unanimously
adopted.
RESOLUTION No. 499
GRANTING CONSENT OF CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO ACQUIRE AN INTEREST IN A SANITARY
SEWERAGE AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE TREATMENT PLANT, PUMPING PLANT AND OURFALL
SEWERAGE SYSTEM, AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE COST THEREOF SHALL BE ASSESSED UPON
A SPECIAL DISTRICT UNER SECTION lb OF THE MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 1913.
NORTH FAIR OAKS SEWERAGE DISPOSAL PROJECT
