i <br />' MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING 2 5 <br />BOARD OF EQUALIZATION <br />AUGUST 13, 1947 <br />10:00 A. M. , <br />ON ROLL CALL, the following were present: Councilman 0. A. Britschgi, H. E. Holmquist, <br />A. V. Swift, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also. present were: <br />City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney C. B. Currie, Assessor -Auditor J. J. Brophy <br />and Police Chief C. L. Collins. <br />THE MAYOR CALLED FOR VERBAL PROTESTS and the following appeared: , <br />Representation of Rose Bertolucei protesting Personal Property assessment in Redwood <br />Tavern, Main Streete <br />Manuel Frucht, Main Street Furniture Company also protested assessment on Personal <br />. Property. <br />Mr. Alford appeared regarding assessment on his residence on corner of.Hopkins.and <br />Nevada. <br />All of the three above listed complaints were referred to Assessor Brophy•for report <br />and recommendation., , <br />Miss Annie Offerman appeared to protest several pieces of property. Mr.. Cleminshaw <br />reviewed the assessments covering each piece of property, explaining the basis of <br />figuring the various assessments, and advising that in his opinion the figures are <br />equitable. <br />Mr. Robert G. Gillespie of 35 Duane Street appeared to question the basis of figuring <br />value of land. After hearing Mr. Cleminshaw's explanation, the'Council,decided'to <br />stand by the assessment as submitted. <br />Mrs. Graves appeared in connection with her property on Maple Street near.Main Street. <br />After discussion, Cleminshaw's agreed to recheck and report back. . <br />The Council decided to allow assessment on Hotel Building occupied by Redwood Tavern <br />on Main Street to stand as submitted. <br />Mrs. L. Otzen appeared regarding her property at Duane and Brewster. The Cleminshaw's <br />had adjusted the original assessment by making a small reduction which was not <br />agreeable to Mrs. Otzen. After discussion, the Council decided to stand by Clemin- <br />shaw's revised assessment. <br />ON MOTION OF COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, the meeting adjourned <br />to Thursday, August 14th at 10:00 A. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL, the following were present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, H. E. Holmquist, <br />Arthur V. ,Swift, William M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Attorney Cuthbert B. Currie and Police Chief Collins <br />and Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy. Absent: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi and <br />George W. McNulty. <br />MAYOR HILTON ANNOUNCED that the City Council was again sitting as a Board of Equalization <br />and asked for any protests to the assessment roll. <br />Mrs. Hilda McGovern, 11 Arch Street.
