r <br />2,56- Cleminshay.. it was the consensus of the Council that this was a fair assessment. <br />Mrs. Milton Johnson, 56 Lowell, appeared protesting the assessment against the <br />property at the above address. After a discussion with Mr. Harvey Cleminshaw, it was <br />a <br />decided that the assessment was in conformity with surrounding property and no <br />change was made. <br />Mr. Louis -Weiss, 949 Edgewood Road, again appeared citing property -values along <br />Edgewood Road. <br />Mr. Marshall A. White, 32 King Street, appeared protesting assessment on improve- <br />ments at above address. <br />Mrs. Minnie A. Winiger, 712 Jefferson Avenue, protested assessment on her property. <br />The assessment was equitable in the opinion of the Council. <br />Mrs. Carl Wood, 445 Redwood Avenue, appeared protesting assessment on her property. <br />i <br />Mr. Henry Beeger again appeared protesting assessment on property on Broadway which p <br />houses the Woolworth Building and Tom Shop, and also assessment on McDonald and <br />i <br />Cryer Building on El Camino Real. It was decided that further discussion in regard <br />to these assessments would be held on Monday, August 19, 1947.• <br />Mrs. W. G. Draewell, 27 Nevada Street, protested assessment on the grounds that the <br />garage should not be figured the same as the house. She claimed this had been done <br />because of the garage being finished with plywood. <br />Mr. F. C. Brandeburg, 36 Woodstock Avenue, appeared protesting assessment on his <br />property. <br />I <br />All of the above protests were referred to the City Assessor and appraisal firm for <br />report and recommendation. • <br />COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST MOVED, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the meeting be adjourned <br />until 10:30 A. M., Friday, August 15, 1947. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL, the following were present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, H. E. Holmquist, <br />i <br />Arthur V. Swift, William M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton, and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Cuthbert B. Currie and <br />Police Chief C. L. Collins. Absent: Councilmen: Carl A. Britschgi and George W. <br />McNulty. <br />MAYOR HILTON ANNOUNCED that the City Council was sitting as a Board of Equalization and <br />asked if there were any protests to the assessment roll. The following appeared: <br />Mr. S. Murphy, 261 Nevada Street.. protested his assessment which he claimed was <br />larger than that on surrounding property. The matter was referred to the appraisers <br />and a.recheck was made. It was the recommendation that no change be made in this <br />assessment and it was advised that Mr. Murphy was satisfied after the recheck had <br />been made. <br />Mr. Miller, 2075 Broadway, appeared on behalf of Mrs. Belinda MacKenzie, 204 Franklin <br />Street, protesting the assessment on the improvements and claiming the house was so <br />old that it had no value. It was the recommendation of the Assessor that no change <br />be made inasmuch as the house had been allowed a 40% depreciation. <br />�1 <br />
