M. <br />ON ROLL CALL, the following were -present: Councilman Carl A. Britechgi, Floyd D. Granger, <br />George W. McNulty, H. E. Holmquist, Mayor W. W. Hilton, and City Clerk R. Be Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Cuthbert Be Currie, City <br />Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy and Police Chief C. L. Collins. <br />MAYOR HILTON ANNOUNCED that this was an adjourned meeting of the Board of Equalization <br />and asked for any protests. The following appeared: <br />0 <br />Mr. D. Sturgell, 354 Encina Avenue. He protested the assessment on the improvements <br />at the above address. After a discussion with Mr. William Cleminshaw, it was decided <br />that the appraisal firm would recheck the premises and bring back a recommendation. <br />Mr. L. F. Winkenwerder, 4 King Street. He protested that the assessment seemed out <br />of order in view of the county's assessment. Mr. Cleminshaw checked the assessment <br />card and recommended no change in the assessment. <br />Mrs. Mary Edward Mayer, 75 King Street. After a discussion with Mr. Cleminshaw, it <br />was decided to recheck this property. <br />Mrs. J. H. Ott, 210 Lexington. This property is a house and duplex and Mrs. Ott did <br />not believe the assessment on 210 Lexington was in line with that placed on the <br />duplex. After a discussion, Mr. Cleminshaw agreed to recheck this property. <br />The owner of the Land Mark Grocery, 2231 E1 Camino Real, appeared protesting his <br />personal property assessment. City Assessor Brophy advised that the owner had refused <br />to open his books but that now he wants to furnish his inventory. The matter was <br />referred to the City Assessor. <br />Mr. August Schwartz, 1002 Valota Road. After a discussion, Mr. Cleminshaw agreed to <br />recheck this property. <br />Mrs. Mary A. Boeddiker, 12 Clinton Street, appeared protesting land assessment at <br />this address and also on property at El Camino Real and James Avenue. <br />Mrs. A. H. Silva, 246 Grand Street, protested assessment on home and compared it to <br />
