. the services of an engineer consultant at the price stipulated. <br />26.5 <br />f <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION advising that Chairman Albert <br />r <br />Morgan, Jr. would be out of the City during the month of September on vacation.. and <br />suggesting that a member of the City Council be present at their meetings during his <br />absence. Communication filed. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM PLANNING 0014MISSION RECOMMENDING that Mr. .S. J. Moncrieff be allowed <br />to resubdivide Lot 16, allowing 2388 feet to,become a part of Lot 17, explaining <br />that this resubdivision would eliminate three 25 foot lots and result in one 50 foot <br />F <br />and one 48 foot lots. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi <br />j <br />that recommendation be approved. Motion carried unanimously. <br />k. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM G. T. McCoy, Highway Engineer, State of California regarding <br />Collier -Burns Highway Act providing for a system of Major Streets -in each city, which <br />act will become effective on January let, 1948. Mr. McCoy suggested.t hat the fol- <br />lowing paragraph be included in project agreements:. <br />"The streets of, major importance heretofore designated by the City. Council <br />of the City of under the provisions of Section <br />195 of the streets and Highway Code Chapter 642, Statutes of 1935, and <br />approved by the department, are hereby selected by the City Council and <br />approved by the department as the major city street system of such city <br />as authorized by the Collier -Burns Highway Act." <br />Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, that we accept this sug- <br />gestion with the understanding that such an acceptance will not prevent revisions <br />or changes at any time in the future. -Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM WALDO H. STONE requesting that his recent request for per- <br />mission to.build on a portion of Lot 17, Welesley Park be reconsidered. This pre- <br />vious request was rejected by the Council at their meeting of June 2nd for the <br />reason that lot area was of less than 5000 square feet as covered by ordinance. <br />I' <br />I <br />Mr. Stone agreed to change his plan so that the square footage requirement would <br />be met. Communication was.ordered referred back to the Planning Commission whose . <br />06 meeting will be held immediately after adjourned council meeting of September 8th. <br />0014MUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM Mr. G. 0. Wooten regarding the false front on the build-, <br />• <br />ing occupied by D. D. Restaurant at 1436 E1 Camino Real which was erected by the <br />Baker Construction Company. Mr. Wooten had been notified that the false front <br />encroached approximately 11-1/2 inches on the sidewalk area, and he had been noti- <br />fied to remove same -immediately. Mr. Wooten asked for a temporary delay in which' <br />to remove this front inasmuch as the store adjoining D. D. Restaurant would be <br />taken over upon expiration of lease at which time the front would be taken down <br />and re -constructed. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Werder that <br />extension of time be granted providing cash or bond be deposited with the City <br />Treasurer in the amount decided upon after discussion with City Manager Blom. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS regarding the establishment of speed <br />limit on Woodside Road of 35 miles per hour from El Camino Real, Station 0 to Gordon <br />4 Avenue, Station 38. Beyond this point, it was stated in the Highway report, the <br />number of structures fail to justify extension of 35 mile zone beyond Gordon Avenue. <br />However, since there is considerable building now in progress.on this section of <br />highway, traffic engineers will keep the matter under their observation and a resur- <br />vey will be conducted at a later date. Division of Highways also reported that <br />further investigation will be made of curve between Valota Road and Kentfield <br />
