He suggested the matter <br />be held in abeyance until petitions are received. <br />COUNCILMAN Werder left the meeting. ?, <br />i .- <br />COMMUNICATION'FROM WELTNER MOTOR COMPANY READ ADVISING THEY EXPECTED TO complete filling <br />in and surfacing the lot adjoining the Standard Station at which time work will be <br />started on the new office building. In the meantime, they are still operating only <br />from the.old used car lot. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman <br />Holmquist that'the matter be left in the hands of the City Manager to - carry out <br />the provisions of the ordinance, and dropped permanently from the agenda. Motion <br />carried. <br />CITY MANAGER BLOM ADVISED HE HAD CONTACTED PETITIONERS ON OAK AVENUE suggesting that <br />neighbors on the block furnish the rock and the City will haul and spread. He <br />stated oiling the street would not help the situation. Matter left up to City Mal <br />ger to handle as he sees fit. <br />STENOGRAPHER CLERK JOB SPECIFICATION was read to the Council. Councilman Granger moved, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, that specification be submitted to the Board of, <br />Review with their approval and recommendation. Motion carried. <br />CITY MANAGER BLOM REPORTED ON FROST AND BRIAN BILL covering services on Broadway No. 3 <br />advising that to date the firm had not been paid. He advised the City had entered <br />into contract and the firm was entitled to'their money, even though collections <br />had not been made from property owners as per agreement. City Attorney Currie <br />suggested getting together with four or five large property owners in an effort <br />to work out the terms of the agreement. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by <br />i <br />Councilman'MeNulty that City Treasurer be authorized to pay Frost and Brian if City <br />I' <br />Attorney advised legal to pay. Councilman Britschgi stated that it appeared odd for <br />the city to pay out the money and take chances of recovering the amount paid out. <br />Motion carried. <br />LIM <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST, that City Attorney review the W <br />agreements and if legal to start suit to collect moneys from owners of property in- <br />volved. City Attorney was instructed to bring back a report at the next meeting. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER BROUGHT UP QUESTION of improving street at Manzanita and Middlefield <br />Road before the rainy season. City Manager Blom will contact Mr. Bocallero and <br />will assist in spreading rock if he will purchase same. <br />CITY MANAGER BLOM REPORTED, in answer to Councilman Grnager's question, that the matter <br />of improving the creek area between Middlefield Road and Broadway should be held <br />in abeyance in the hope -that cost of the project will be reduced. There are flood <br />problems to be considered, method of stopping tide waters and other problems to be <br />studied, When these problems are worked out, then will be the time to proceed. <br />
