M. <br />I �1 <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were'present: Councilman Carl A. Britschgi, Councilman Floyd <br />�{ D. Granger, Councilman H. E. Holmquist, Councilman G. W. McNulty, Councilman A. V. <br />Swift, and Councilman William M. Werder. Also present were City Clerk Ralph Dodge, <br />City Attorney C. B. Currie, Police Lieutenant Stanley Wood, Building Inspector L. M. <br />ii. <br />Duncan, Assistant Engineer H. L. Winter, City Engineer C. L. Longson, Fire Chief <br />j Joe Lodi, and A'asessor-Auditor J. J. Brophy. Due to the absence of Mayor W. W. <br />i' Hilton, Councilman Granger was elected Mayor pro-tem on motion of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES. On motion of Councilman Holmquist, seconded by Councilman Swift and <br />f carried, minutes of regular meetings of September 2nd and 15th, special meeting of <br />August 29th and adjourned meeting of September 5th were approved as mailed. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM MR. WILLIAM GROSS, 2195 Broadway regarding building at 1042 <br />1 Main Street. Building Inspector Duncan reported to the Council that building was <br />in bad shape and that his original recommendation that same be demolished still <br />id stands. Fire Chief Lodi also reported that the building was not a suitable one to <br />used-for the purpose stated in Mr. Gross' letter, namely metal plating shop. Chief <br />Lodi advised that the wireing was in bad shape and the building generally a fire <br />I' <br />hazard. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, that matter be <br />placed-on agenda for next meeting, and that the Building Inspector, Fire Chief and <br />`f <br />Health Department report back on the possibilty of making repairs and corrections in <br />wiring so that the present tenant may continue in business to the end of his lease, <br />namely two years. Motion carried. r <br />PETITION SIGNED BY RESIDENT OF OAKWOOD PARK received requesting that IiChildren at Play" <br />and "Traffic Laws Strictly Enforced" and like signs be installed on Oakwood Blvd. <br />East and West to safeguard the children in that area, was ordered referred to Traffic <br />Safety Committee on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. <br />Motion carried. <br />LETTER FROM VETERAN OF FOREIGN WARD, OLD GLORY POST No. 2044, requesting that Friday and <br />Saturday, October ].0th and lltli, be designated as War Dead Days commemorating these <br />it <br />'I two days in honor of the men who gave their lives on foreign soil, bodies of many of <br />i <br />which will arrive and pass through the Golden Gate on the dates specified.
