Motion carried. <br />MR. FRANCIS BURROWS APPEARED TO PROTEST certain alledged violation of the zoning ordinance <br />on the part of S & W Fine Foods. Mr. Burrows was advised that the matter was to come <br />up before the Planning Commission at their next meeting of October 13th. In the <br />meantime, proper authorities would inspect the premises and be prepared to report to <br />the Planning Commission as well as to the Council at the meetingof October 20th. <br />MRS. OLIVIA NARDELLI APPEARED to reconsider request for permit to operate restaurant at <br />2303 E1 Camino Real, formerly known as Two Friends Cafe, Council having denied permit <br />at a previous meeting. She stated she was representing a Mr. Tamperini who had <br />expended some $2,000 in remodeling the place and in addition was indebted to a San <br />Francisco hospital and the Community Hospital for an additional $22000 for medical <br />attention due to an injury received at the same piace. Mrs. Nardelli states she <br />would put a reliable man in charge who would operate the place in an orderly manner. <br />Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist that the matter be re- <br />ferred back to the proper authorities for reconsideration and report back to the <br />next meeting. <br />REPORT OF ARMORY BUILDING COMMITTEE. Mr. John C. Marcroft read the report of the committee, <br />a copy of which had been handed to each member of'the Council. This report was very <br />complete in every detail, and recommended the following sites be offered'to the <br />State for the erection of a temporary building to cover a three year period: <br />1. A site to be selected in Community Park <br />2. An area marked as parcel #138 located within the ultimate area of Community Park. <br />4. A 5 acre area located across Roosevelt Avenue from Community Park. <br />. An area at the foot of Broadway comprising the undeveloped street of National Ave. <br />The committee recommended the selection of the first site listed above. Major Helm, <br />representing the State National Guard, Adjutant Generale Office, spoke on the advan- <br />tages of locating the National Guard unit in Redwood City. Councilman Swift made the <br />following motion, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried unanimously: °I <br />move that the recommendation of the Armory Committee be approved and adopted by the <br />City Council, and that the National Guard be offered a temporary site in Community <br />Park, location of such site to be selected by the City Manager and the Parke and <br />Recreation Committee with the approval of the City Council. This site is to serve <br />as a temporary location only, for a period not to extend beyond January let, 19512 <br />and the National Guard prior to accepting said temporary location, shall enter into <br />an agreement with the City that should the City require the buildings to be removed, <br />any expense attached thereto shall be borne by the Nation Guard'. <br />PROPOSED ANNEXATION FRIENDLY ACRES. Mr. H. B. Hall presented a petition bearing 117 <br />additional names favoring annexation. Mr. John L. Rose, 1133 Marsh Road appeared <br />opposing the annexation without another election. He stated in his opinion the City <br />should go on record as to services the area would enjoy such as police and fire pro- <br />tection, water, street lights, etc. He suggested further that the property owners <br />be informed as to how soon these services could be expected, at what cost, etc. <br />Councilman Werder suggested holding a meeting with the people of Friendly Acres to <br />go into the matter fully and answer all questions.
